Can you please tell me more about the show in May? When and where? I won't be able to make the Northeast one on Jan 14, and I'm dying for a polish to complete my little flock.
thanks

Careful where you get your squirrel from! There's actually a limit of 2 per adult, 1 per child in Ringwood, NJ because of the Ford company illegally dumping their paint sludge in the area years ago!
I wouldn't mind trying squirrel, (I've tried some pretty exotic meals), just not from...
I'll have to pass that on to my hubby- he uses pb too, but sometimes has the traps raided!
Just a quick 2 cents- have you seen the new black plastic mouse traps? They are just a simple spring loaded clip-looking contraption. We both love them for ease of use (easy to set, release, and reset)...
Looking for pullets to add to my small backyard flock. Would like one of each:
Welsummer
Polish: white crested blue or cuckoo
bantam cochin: just about any color, but prefer multicolor, like mille fleur or splash
thanks!
I rescued my first hen from a parking lot, so I'm not absolutely certain what brees she is. From looking around online I think she's an ISA Brown. She's an excellent layer; she only misses a day maybe twice a month. Even with the shorter days. (I do not use any suplemental lighting)
Remember the main point- she's leaving! Some people just don't like change, and she sees the coop as a change. Whatever new people buy the house next door will know that seeing your cute little coop during the winter is part of the deal. I doubt the new neighbors will think of it as an eye sore...
Hello everyone! I got a tip that I might be able to find a lead for a white crested blue polish (LF) pullet on this thread. Anyone know where I can find one not too far from north Jersey?
thanks
Beautiful coloring!
I don't know about gender though... I'd like to cast my vote for roo based on the tail feathers. Those in the saddle area look more pointy than round to me.
I would just add that if you're planning on catching run-off from the roof, try to avoid asphalt shingles. All kinds of nasty petroleum chemicals leach into the water, making it unsuitable even for using in the garden.
