Current Movies - Thumbs UP or Thumbs DOWN

The only new movie I've seen this year was Les Miserables. Two thumbs up for sure! Everybody was sniffling. The intro was stunning and High Jackman is very impressive as Valjean. Though as a fan of the stage production, I was disappointed by Russell Crowe's performance - his voice isn't...

    I now understand

If they foreclose on thousands and thousands of properties, they likely make plenty of money on most of them. As for the ones that don't sell, well, land isn't being made any more, and a corporation can hold onto it for decades until the price goes up just for the land.

    Date Night for Chickens

Just found a great article on my favorite legal humor site, "Lowering the Bar". The author surpasses himself in his analysis of certain features of backyard-chicken legislation. Quote: http://www.loweringthebar.net/2011/04/new-jersey-township-passes-chicken-sex-rule.html

Teacher claims 6 year old beat him up, can't return to work.

And if one of those patients had kicked your knee just right, you wouldn't be doing that job now. Yes, I've had all that stuff happen to me, too - as well as a couple of close calls (from a small kid) that could have seriously injured me. There's a difference between painful and disgusting...

    Maybe It's just me but...

Check with your county department that maintains roads. Here in my state, you can apply for signs that say "No Pesticides", to keep the county from spraying. I think you have to agree to keep the saplings and trees trimmed under the power lines. My mother-in-law used to have pitched battles...

New puppy needs training asap *Updates and training tips for your puppies!*

Here's Badger this afternoon with some of the hens out in the front yard. He's 20 months old and has been out off-leash with the chickens for several months. This week, I've started leaving him outside unsupervised for the whole time they are out in the afternoon. He usually lies around, and...

    Gun ban!

If it comes in a chain email, I discount it. If the email says "Forward this to all your friends!" it's a total fraud. Always, always, always.

How can I protect eggs from adult black racer(s) ??

A snake that long can eat several chicks or eggs in a day, and come back for more the next day. I lost 21 chicks and hatching eggs in about two weeks to snakes - or one ratsnake, since after we caught and killed a six foot one in the pen (with at least three hatching eggs inside it) the...

Is U.S.A. Social Security Disability easier to get now ?

Just off the top of my head, from my experience in the wonderful world of disability: 1) Fewer jobs available means far fewer jobs for people with disabilities, since they may require accommodations, and may have more insurance claims. 2) Fewer jobs means more people putting off medical...

    Neighbor feeding Raccoons

It sounds like you have a very secure coop - but of course that's a lot of raccoons! You might want to talk to the city about what constitutes creating a nuisance. Deliberately attracting disease-bearing vermin to your back yard might fall under that. If so, get a game cam and gather...

first time in three years my dog chased a chicken

Chicks move differently from adult chickens - they're fast and fluttery, more like bugs. My dog is getting good with the adult birds, but when I get chicks again, I'm going to start him over from scratch, using a leash, rewards, brief exposure, etc.
