A little boy - but what is he?

This was a rogue egg in my cuckoo marans, I'm assuming that he's not a maran but please correct me if I'm wrong. About 6 weeks old and a real beauty (and knows it!). With a comb like that obviously a boy, strutting his stuff and cockerel type behaviour already. But can anyone tell me what he...

Marans - are they all boys?

I have 4 maran chicks about 6 weeks old - 1 white (I think, or possibly silver?) and the other 3 cuckoo. I think the white one is definitely a boy, but are the cuckoos all boys too? How do I tell (other than wait until they crow!)? On the cuckoos the comb is much smaller and less red than the...

Black cochin frizzles? Boys or girls?

I have 2 chickens about 13 weeks old. Posted pics previously to find out what breed they were (thanks for all responses, by the way), the general consensus was that they were black cochin frizzle. My other half thinks that they have some Jersey Giant in them as they are very large for their...

    Cuckoo marans or cuckoos?

We have just hatched these 5 cuckoo maran chicks - or at least that's what we were told the hatching eggs were. But we seem to have 2 blonde cuckoos in the nest! Any thoughts on what they may be, or is it too soon to tell? I am assuming that they are not cuckoo marans!!! Based on what...

Frizzles - but what are they? And what gender?

Quote: Any thoughts? Or can't you tell?

Are they *actually* Araucanas? Genders? (lots of pics!)

Quote: I'm in the UK - this one looks just like my lavender aracaunas, mine were both girlies

Frizzles - but what are they? And what gender?

Any thoughts on whether they're boy or girl? we wondered if we had one of each, but really aren't sure.

Frizzles - but what are they? And what gender?

Not really got a clue about either of these - we bought hatching eggs without really knowing what we were going to get, just for the surprise! There's obviously some frizzle there, but can anyone tell us what breed they are and what gender? They are about 11 weeks old and have huge hairy feet...

    Frizzle-cross chicks? What sex?

We bought 6 frizzle-cross eggs to incubate, with 2 hatching. Pics of them at 2 days old and then at 4 weeks. Can anyone help with what they may be crossed with and also their sex? One is definitely more frizzle-y than the other, does that mean anything? Obviously we would love for them both...

    Goldtop - boy or girl?

And I've just been advised that Dad probably was a gold silkie, so the goldtops would be gold silkie/light sussex cross which makes sense with what everyone's said. Many thanks for all the posts, going to put this one down to a rogue egg BTW would anyone in the UK like him? Can probably...

    Goldtop - boy or girl?

This is what the white chick grew up to look like - and he was definitely a boy! The "new boy" looks nothing like this

    Goldtop - boy or girl?

Quote: x2 What exactly was the cross? There are lots of misinformed people on the subject of making sex-links... Hi - we were told white silkie cockerel and light sussex hen. We had one hatch who was clearly a cockerel (the little white one in the first photo) but we simply assumed the...

    Goldtop - boy or girl?

We hatched 4 Goldtops (Light Sussex/Silkie cross) in early June. We specifically bought the eggs because we were told that they were sex linked and that from hatching the boys would be white and the girls honey coloured, so we were very pleased to hatch 1 white and 3 goldies (pic attached)...

Black German Langshan - boy or girl please?

Quote: I don't know why these pictures are so small, but they are larger if you open them. Chris - we're in the UK. This is our first German Langshan so we had no idea what to expect when they were hatching - all great fun, just to see what you get!
