Hello All,
Just returned to hatching (and this forum) after a LOOOOONG hiatus. Got some new eggs this week and set up my incubator....My problem is I have a pretty big difference in temperatures across the board with my digital thermometers. I put two in there and they were way off from each...
So....over a year ago I had two incubators and hatched all my own chicks. I have since sold one of those incubators and kept one. I decided to try and hatch some quail so a few days ago I revved up the incubator. I left both thermometers in there (digital temp/humidy). They both said two...
Thanks for the replies guys. I would love bigger, but i'm going for quick turn around to so the coturnix seem like a good bet. Does anyone breed texas A&M, any input on those?
I am looking to start with some quail as meat birds for my family. I was thinking about either Jumbo Coturnix or Texas A&M. Can anyone tell me how large their quail grow? Or maybe a trusted source of stock that yields large birds to get eggs from? Thanks for the input!
Hello All! I havent been around for a while but i was soo excited when my tiny little hen went broody! I went and got her some fertile eggs, i sure hope she hatches them! This is the first time ive had a broody hen...always hatched them in an incubator.
well...i definitly have some egg eaters . I don't understand what brought it on, they get oyster shell, plenty of grass feed and water, they have plenty of space and ample nest boxes. SO....i prepared a batch of mustard eggs tonight (blew egg shells, filled with mustard using a syringe and...
Hello everyone. I looked around and couldn't find this, i'm sure its somewhere. I have a chicken delivery scheduled for next week, should I call the post office, or just wait for the package at home?
My chickens and I do NOT agree on the purpose of plants....any plants at all. I have several times tried to plant a veggie garden (most recently 2 weeks ago) and they end up eating ALL of my plants. I just re-planted my garden (chose a container garden over my garden boxes this season), and...
I have been looking at several hatcheries since thinking about raising some for meat for my family. There is a local who hatches and sells them for $3 each...i know there wouldnt be shipping involved, but still....isn't that a bit much?
Hello Everyone! I am helping a friends son with his science fair project and am looking for some sex link eggs (so I can easily distinguish sex after hatching). Wondering if anyone has some available?
Just wondering if anyone on here has tuxedo button quail eggs available? I am also looking for some pure white also. I will look in other areas as well, but always prefer to get from you guys first.
Thanks for all of the ideas. I think i'll try it in the run first (rainy season in fl = yuck!) and if that works out alright i'll try it in the henhouse!
i was wondering if anyone knows if it is safe to use mulch in the henhouse on the floor? I get mulch free, but wanted to make sure it was safe before switching from wood shavings.
I found some runner duck eggs locally today and am getting the bator ready to put them in tomorrow. I'm so excited! hatched chicken and quail many times, but never ducks! Any tips/suggestions?
