Hey all, I'm looking for ducklings in the San Antonio area. I'd prefer sexed, but willing to gamble with straight run. However I really want any combination of the following breads - any tips?
Ancona
Magpie
Saxony
Buff
After having chickens for a few years, we had to re-home them last spring in preparation for a big move. This year we are starting a backyard flock again but with ducks this time (I'm excited!). I did FF for the chickens and was considering doing the same for the ducks. My question is do I...
Sorry to leave you in the leach - yesterday was our first day of school so obviously things have been a bit crazy (why did I think it would be a good idea to have babies shipped the same week start school??!) The great news is that "sicky" (my 6yo DD named her) is doing great! 48 hours later...
I have an Ancona pullet that's right around 18 weeks, just wondering when other people got their first eggs? I'm hoping any day now, but she also isn't showing any signs of readiness, she doesn't squat, she hasn't spent any time exploring the nest boxes, although her comb is getting fairly red...
I've got water/electrolytes out there and I'll be checking on her/watering her every half hour to hour. She can hold her head up but not well kinda like she's too tired to do so. Her left side seams weaker than the right so I'm hoping it's not neurological somehow. I put out some softened...
2 DOA and 1 that is really really weak. Hoping for the best, going to go get some electrolites out to her. Any other tips. She seems to be having a really hard time standing or walking like her legs aren't strong enough.
So, I haven't checked in since June and I'm completely out of touch with everyone's birds. But I just had to post because my chicks SHIPPED YESTERDAY, which means they should be here TOMORROW!!! I am SOOO excited to finally get these little fluff balls in, since I've had them on order since...
I haven't had problems in the house with flies (except fruit flies which we get every spring) but you could try some of these things even though they are designed for in the coop. Maybe, just a thought.

Good luck.
That second picture is adorable!!
At just three days it's way too soon to know gender, but keep in mind it may have hatched sooner than the others, they empty the incubators and ship on monday, but it could could have hatched any time over the weekend so it might just be a day or two ahead of...
Our run has some shade throughout the day, but otherwise it's mostly sun. My read star is probably one of the most heat tolerant of the group. I ad ice to their water, and have moved their nest boxes to the run rather than the coop so that there is a hope of airflow through them. I generally...
