I've had these two girls for 8 days now. They are healthy, happy, and they've integrated just fine. No problems. But NO EGGS! What gives? They don't look old, but then again, I'm no expert. The weather has been great - high 50's during the day. What do you think? Are they holding out, or...
Thank you! They've had 4 days to settle in now, and I'm wondering why no eggs? My Gold Sex Link is still laying every day. The two new girls - Roadrunner (the Brown Leghorn), and Speckles (the Gold Laced Wyandotte), show no signs of laying. I think the Wyandotte might still be young, as her...
I was told the one in the first picture is a Black Sex Link and the one in the middle picture (with the cute white earlobes) is a Blue Leghorn. Would you agree?
Thank You :)
No, I don't have a rooster, and I haven't seen anyone actually picking on her. Several months ago I thought that maybe it might be a picking issue, and I put a duct tape saddle on her, but that didn't seem to make a difference. Could lice possibly do this? I use DE, but I've never used...
Poor Blondie, I thought she was molting or that she was being picked on by another girl. Now I think that it might be something else. I hope someone might be able to give me some ideas of what else it could be. She seems healthy otherwise, and my other five girls are just fine.
Thanks,
Sue
My 6 girls free range most of the time in my 1/3 acre backyard. Unfortunately their favorite spot is this small spot which we landscaped BEFORE we had the girls. There must be something in the dirt there that they've taken a liking to, because we go through this EVERY DAY........ they dig it...
I have 6 five month old girls...... 2 have been laying for a couple of weeks now, and the other 4 will be any minute now. Two of the four keep going in and out of the coop, jumping in the nest box and squawking their silly heads off. Actually they are squawking (BAWK! BAWK! BAWK!) most of the...
Wow, that's too funny! DH didn't want chickens either....... I came home with 3 and he helped me set up a brooder. He became very attached to them and hand feed the Buff Orp wehen she was a few days old and we weren't sure she would make it - actually cooked her hamburger and hard boiled...
Thank you:) DH thought I was nuts when I put a spreadsheet on the fridge two days ago......... the day we found our first egg. He said it was my German heritage surfacing:lol:. So far I only have one hen laying, pretty soon I'll need to figure out who laid which egg:/
Thanks, PetRock!! That's exactly what I needed. Now I know that my first two eggs were from Blondie, the GSL. Michelle, the BR, has been squatting for 3 days now, so maybe today's the day:) I have 2 nest boxes for the 6 girls, and we found the first egg in the left box, and the second egg in...
I got my first egg on Wednesday! It was from my Gold Sex Link, Blondie. Yesterday there was the second egg - it looked just like the first, so I thought it was another from Blondie, but Michelle , my Barred Rock is ready to start laying as well, so now I'm wondering...... will I be able to tell...
I know what you mean! They've been really bad here in New Mexico as well. I've been using diatomaceous earth (food grade) from the feed store in the coop and run, and so far it's kept the ants away. In the front yard I use Amdro (Home Depot or Lowe's), but that can't be used around pets or...
Gee, I feel sorry for Cousin It..... I'd probably stay by myself and eat a lot if my friends didn't want me around:) I hope you find out, and I'm glad you're keeping Cousin It.
