Day 14, not sure what I should do

I just finished incubating 24 chicken eggs two weeks ago in a Hova-Bator. I used the temperature that came with it and I had to move around the temperature a bit the first two days, but after that it was fine. Are you keeping the thermometer on top of the eggs and not on the wire? If you keep it...

Hi, I have a 1 year and 2 month old show-quality Mille Fleur d'Uccle rooster for sale. He's healthy, and mite/lice free. He has never been shown yet, but his mother won Best Feathered. Has wing sexing chicks ever been successful for you?

Thank you everyone. I know what to look for in feather sexing, although it's good information for those that cross this thread and didn't know how. I was just wondering if anyone has ever had any experience of their own trying it. All of my chicks except for two are crossbred. The other two are...

Has wing sexing chicks ever been successful for you?

I just learned how to feather sex chicks by looking at their wings and I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if they've tried it and it's worked? Normally I wait until they're older and compare combs, but I would like to sex them while they're chicks without vent sexing them.

2 d'Uccles for sale (Male & Female) - Hollister, CA

Hello, I have two show-quality d'Uccles I am selling, one rooster and one hen. Both are siblings and are healthy, mite/lice free, and are around 1 year and 2 months old. The hen is gentle and would be great for showmanship or just entering. The rooster won't attack but will sometimes peck you...

    Question about fertile eggs.

Thank you so much! I know it's been a while, but the chicks started hatching Wednesday and I have 10 out of 23 hatched so far with 4 more trying to peck their ways through the eggs!

    Wing sexing chicks?

I was Googling and ironically it brought me to a thread here on BackYardChickens about feather sexing. The thread was from 2008, which is why I didn't reply to it. One member had said they believed it could only be done with certain breeds.

    Wing sexing chicks?

I'm getting the idea of wing sexing chicks, but I heard it's not reliable for all breeds of chickens. Can anyone please tell me if they've had any experience wing sexing any of the following breeds?: Australorps Jersey Giants Cochins Plymouth Rocks I have crosses of all these chickens that are...

Chicks with orange legs and feet.

That's what I was thinking too. And when I ordered my Jersey Giants and Australorps from Murray McMurray Hatchery when they were small none of them had orange legs and feet. I'm wondering if it's because they're a crossed breed...

Chicks with orange legs and feet.

I was wondering if chicks that are born with orange legs and feet will stay that color when they mature? Some of my Black Australorp x Black Jersey Giant cross chicks were born with the expected black legs and feet, and some of the others were born with orange legs and feet. I also have two...

    Make it stop!!!!!

Quote: Aww! Great idea! I normally throw in either an old stuffed animal or old clothes. As for the peeping - it could be several things. They could be cold, hungry, thirsty, or just loud, haha!

    APRIL HATCH-A-LONG come join in

UPDATE!: 5 chicks hatched out of 23 so far! Four of them hatched last night. I woke up this morning and was like "That sounds like more than one chick!". I could hear all the peeping from my closet when I was laying down. I checked earlier this morning around 2am and there was two hatched, so...

    APRIL HATCH-A-LONG come join in

Quote: I'll post pics once I'm able to take them after my camera is charged. For a day I forgot what day I put them in the incubator. Thanks to a friend of mine for remembering what day I told them I started the eggs, haha! I wrote down on one of my calendars when I started them, and when to...

    APRIL HATCH-A-LONG come join in

Mrs. Feathers : The third basically threw itself out of the shell and is busy visiting all the unhatched. CUTE! Update: Today is day 21 for me. I haven't heard any peeping, but I did see two of my Australorp chicks moving around in their eggs. Funny enough, the two that I saw moving are the...

I forgot when I started my eggs!

What's the reason you don't turn the eggs the last three days? And would I stop turning the 18th day, or stop the 19th day? Because if I stop the 18th technically I would be counting that day and it would make it four days instead of three. Unless you don't count the day they're actually...

I forgot when I started my eggs!

Sorry I wasn't specific. I've been candling almost every day, things are looking great! And what I meant by messing around was it kept moving from different temperatures in the 90's. When my mom was turning the eggs today she accidentally cracked one so I was able to fully see how far the chicks...

I forgot when I started my eggs!

Okay, so here's what's going on. I got my incubator set up and put the eggs in on the 23rd. However! I was messing around with the temperature quite a bit until the 25th. I know the last three days you aren't suppose to turn them so I'm not sure which date to go by. Do you think the eggs already...
