I have a female muscovy duck that I've had for almost 3 years. Recently she's been being attacked by some hens and this morning they managed to draw blood. I have subsequently separated them but just wondered if anyone had any useful suggestions or advice. Thanks
to me that looks like she is malting and the new feathers are coming through. It can sometimes take a while for them to grow back and the bird can look strange
Thank you for everyone's help. I have now put her on wormer however because she's not eating much I'm not sure how much she's going to eat. Will see how we get on and take it from there
Okay thanks I will try her with some tomorrow. I gave all the birds natural yoghurt not too long ago and she didn't seem interested but maybe she might when she's on her own. I hope your friend see's this as I'm really worried and hope she's alright :(
I have 7 other hens a cockerel and 2 ducks. She was with all of them but she's now seperate with another hen who was being bullied although they don't really mix together
I am amberlink hen who I was told was 16 weeks and I have had her for 4 weeks now. She doesn't seem right not really eating her crop is never full and her comb is tiny. She doesn't seem interested in anything no treats or anything. Acts quite quiet and just generally seems unhappy. Any one got...
Was just wondering if anyone had any advice. I posted a month or so ago about adding in new hens and relieved some great feedback. The new hens are now in with the other girls however one of them is very timid even if the other hens aren't anywhere near she will still squawk and run away but the...
Hi I have a 2 year old magpie hybrid who has lost a lot of feathers recently which I assumed was malting. I have now noticed she's lost a lot of feathers around her back end and her oil duct. Also her underneath has lost a considerable amount of feathers and is bare plus when I handled her today...
Luckily he's only a bantam and all my other birds are large fowl birds so hopefully he won't do too much damage. I have another bird with damage and so once they are used to each other was hoping to separate a few birds from the flock to give them rest. The article was really helpful:D
Hi I currently have 10 birds including 2 ducks and a cockerel. I have just purchased 2 new birds one of which has had a lot of damage from a cockerel and so is very quiet and timid. I have had them quarantined for 3 nights now and they seem pretty happy. Was just wondering the best way to...
Never heard of egg lash but looked it up and it seems to most probably be that. Thank you for your reply it was really helpful. I was really worried there was something really wrong with her but as she's old we expected her to stop laying especially as she is a 3 year old Hybrid. Thanks again
I have a 3 year old hybrid hen. About an hour ago I noticed she looked like she was struggling to lay so went to have a look and she seem to lay a rock solid creamy thing that looks kinda like an egg she'll but dodgy one. Shes old and hasn't laid for about a month. Any advice would be appreciated.
