Hi! I raise Narragansett's for showing this will be my third year raising them. I just added 5 more to the 9 I already had, I have 6 Toms and 8 hens. I lost to many eggs/poults this year by letting them try and hatch there own, so I will be incubating all of them this year.
I find hatching quail easier then anything else! You should have a good start! Do you have a brooder and coop/cage ready for them? When I got started I was not prepared because they are soooo much smaller then chickens.
Does anyone know of someone who will have around 5 show quality hens for sale cheap that I could pick up at the West Central Poultry Club show in March?
If you clean the coop really good, you wont have any problems. I raise Narragansett (for show), but I just let them go in the same coop as the chickens (some States have a harder time with disease spreading from chicken to turkeys then Ohio). A dog box makes a great nest box for turkeys...
Hi! We don't have any members that are also members of Uniontown Poultry Assoc. as of now. Our next show is Sept. 19th and 20th at the Summit County Fairgrounds. We had just over 1,000 birds at our first show this past Sept.
Thanks everybody! @Michael OShay, Yes. I raise Chickens, Turkeys, Pigeons, Ducks and Geese a few other things here . I am also the founder of the Eastern Ohio Poultry Association Show: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/936883/eastern-ohio-poultry-association
