I haven't noticed her tipping her head before she starts going in circles. Checked ears and nostrils and they looked clean. She does seem to be going to the left the most.
She doesn't seem to be blind. I reintroduced her to the flock and they chased her all around till she went and hid. I removed her from the flock again. She doesn't seem to be turning in circles as much as much as she was. Don't notice her tipping her head before she starts turning. She does...
They are in bed so don't know about the eye thing. Treats probobly make up 10% of their diet. A little scratch once in a while along with layer crumbles. What are you thinking? And what is the eye thing?
I just like to be able to hold them when showing prospective buyers of off spring. I guess is not 'neccessay', but i am able to catch and hold all my other roos. I bought him at 8 weeks old and have hand raised him.
While we are on this subject, maybe someone can answer a question of mine. I have a BEAUTIFUL blue Orpington roo that i bought as a chick (was suppose to be a hen but is not) who is not any problem with people, other birds or my little Rat Terrier dogs. BUT, when i catch him and am holding him...
I too agree that the cause of the problem could be the feed. I keep my chicks on medicated chick feed for the first 3-4 months, then switch over to regular starter/grower feed until they are a year old, or when they start to lay. I then go to regular layer crumbles for the rest of their lives...
She is probably 3 years old. I give greens to them, like salad mix (not so much iceberg lettuce. No nutritional value) fresh spinach, other types of fresh lettuce, corn on the cob, yogurts, tomatoes, etc. Fresh veggies. Yogurts sparingly. Specialty beads that have lots of seeds in them.
I...
I haven't used Sevin dust directly ON my chickens . However, i DO keep it in their next boxes in the bottom or mixed with their nesting material. They then dust themselves when the scratch around in the hay in the box. Don't have any mite problem.
I do this. When the hen is first starting to set and 'gathering' eggs i leave the nest box open. When she has enough eggs i put up a barrier made of 1/4" hail screen, also known as rabbit wire, to keep her in and the others out. I use pint size milk carton to make a feeder and waterer out of...
I take all of my unwanted roosters to the sale barn. I've never had a mean one but had several when i incubated some crossed eggs that went to the poultry auction.
There are several breeds who lay speckled eggs. I have 2 or 3 hens that lay them, Out of 40, and i don't know which ones they are. HOWEVER, in looking thru one of my catalogs i get from hatcheries that show pictures of the eggs, i have seen them there.
Hi all. I have a question I wondered if anyone could answer.
I have a hen that occasionally will stand in one spot and go round and round and round in circles. Can you tell me what may be causing this and what I can do about it. Hi all. I have a question I wondered if anyone could answer...
She started doing it about 6 weeks ago. When i saw her do it in the main pen i thought she just didn't know where to go to get away from the roo. She is a 'favorite hen' of them. So i took her out and confined her to a pen that i use as my brooder pen, with another hen. She had still not...
