Miss jayne-
This chick is no bigger than a 2 week olkd silkie chick. I don't know why she was bothering with it, unless it wasn't hers and chance just happen to lead the chick to this particular hen but she was not having this chick around. As far as a nest, i walked in a round area of about 50...
SHeeshshe-
Looks roo to me, especially at 2ish weeks old. Keep an eye on em for a little while. If he is a roo, you will definantly tell. Ive got 3 six week old pullets and they are still yellow combed. Keep us posted on his growing up.

I was outside yesterday when i noticed a large WILD turkey hen chasing something around the pasture. After a few minutes, she ran off but kept looking back so needless to say, curiosity got the best of me. I walked out there and heard peeping. After following the sound for a few minutes, i found...
Im still looking and in desperation. I have alot of biddies but not old enough to help out. If anybody has any hens they want to sell, please let me know ASAP.
"RightFromtheStartDoula"- ve is suggesting to flatten out his toes and put tape around them in the flat, normal position. It will give him "muscle" memory if you will, and his toes should stay that way after about a week when you remove the tape. You have to do it quickly or there's really no...
A couple of my girls were taken by predators so now im down to 8 hens for 2 roos and it's not working out too well. The roos are wearing them out. Looking for 6-12 ( or possibly more) good laying hens. Breed doesn't matter. Will consider taking more than 12 if the price is right. Please let me...
ok thanks for the advice. i was wondering about a sprain or something but couldn't really narrow it down due to him "spreading" his toes out all the time. I'll try separating him for a while and see what happens.
ALL,
i have a 2 year old Buff Orp roo that is my best protector and i hate that something might be wrong but here goes.
He has started to limp on his left leg and upon close inspection of him, there is no cut, blister, splinter of any kind that i can see but there is what looks like abrasions...
i bough some of her EE, silkie, and RIR eggs she had & i was more than pleasantly surprised when i got them and opened up the package. Not a one was damaged, cracked or even lightly scratched. Expertly (individually) wrapped and plenty of cushion in the box. Thank you Barnyard for ensuring they...
She might have had an egg bust under her. Go out either now or tonight when shes roosting/sitting and check under to see if an egg exploded. Thats the only explanation that i can think of.

Nope either put him in a box in the dark or rehome him. Not to many ways around it. Neutering is not an option either. They will crow when they want to.
You can't ever really shut up a rooster but what you can do to kinda keep him quiet for a while is put him in a kennel in a dark place or with a towel over it. It'll calm him down but this is a temporary solution. Best thing i can suggest for you're neighbor is bribe them with eggs1 they might...
Ive seen a few people that look like they have custom entries under their name, other than "new Egg" or Just hatched. Are we able to customize this and if so how? or is it set based on number of posts?
Hers another recycling tip for ya torch. looked like in the first picture at the beginning that you had an old camper shell. Seems like u could use it by boxing it in underneath as a coop and nesting area. The windows would slide open for ventilation. Just a suggestion for when you get more...
Just as an update, i have been put on as an "alternate" for this deployment. It lessens the chance that i'll go. Thanks to everybody for letting me vent on here.
