Thank you, I will look up that product and search it out. You've used it?
And the grounds keeper where she lives is removing the remaining guineas from her. I have hopefully found a rescue to take them. Little Buffy is the last chicken out of the 35 she bought in Sept. So many beautiful breeds...
We have a very neglectful neighbor. I'm not kidding when I say she has gone through over 100 chickens/guineas in 3 years because she doesn't protect them at all and we live in the woods. One of her hens (turns out the last one) ran to us for help yesterday. She had been attacked, I believe by...
We had good results with the younger rooster. The older one didn’t seem to be affected. It changed his aggression and aggressive mating behavior. It didn’t affect his crowing. The younger the better. I wish we had done it right after his first crow.
I know this thread is older, but did you find anything to feed them besides layer feed? We had a hen implanted for peritonitis, and now she has lost weight. Really doesn't want to eat her feed. Very active, will run around outside all day when I let them free range, but the feed is of no...
I’m here about the same thing. I’ve seen a few posts about this very thing with this breed. We are going through it now. Maybe this is a major health defect in this breed.
We are wondering if it’s a breed defect. Our little 7 month old Sookie, a cream legbar, was seeming just about to lay. Then boom, lethargic, barely clearing her crop, just wants to lay down. She’s been to the vet 3 times and we’ve gotten her crop moving and she’s digesting better now, but still...
We are about to also try this. Our vet is a very skilled avian vet and is very willing to try it. We don't mind the crowing as much as the excessive mating. He's a beautiful boy that we accidentally hatched, and we are trying our best to keep him.
Our sweet hen, Sweetums passed a lash egg a couple of weeks ago. The vet put her on antibiotics and meloxicam, an anti-inflammatory.
She started pooping this, the light brown gelatin-type stuff. Our main aviary vet is out of town for thew holidays, the other vets see chickens and are very...
Hi there! If anyone has any wisdom about this, I would love it. A sanctuary called us last week, a Mille Fleur D'Uccle was found living in the woods, abandoned. They know us and asked if we could take her. She had been treated for lice and mites successfully and quarantined by herself for 3...

Oh no!!! Mine actually didn't budge yesterday. I think his hormones spike when his ladies are about to lay. It ended with me picking up a chair that I have in the yard. That worked. Anything strange like that folding chair picked up freaks him out and he started screaming and running away...
We went through this with our surprise, too. Beastie started doing this to my partner. We found that if he just carried a stick with him, swinging it a few times, Beastie stays away from him. It also worked for a few friends that watched them when we went on vacation. No need to actually hit...
They have layer feed 16%, and then mash every other day with feather fixer, 18%, since there are a few still molting. Besides that, they have grit and oyster shell available and they get treats of grubblies, meal worms, and scrambled eggs sometimes, and sunflower seeds.
We did notice when we...
