My flock is getting older and not laying well anymore so I decided it was time to add some new chick's. I have a well built secure chicken house that my flock sleeps in but no runs. We live in the Piney Woods of East Texas and my chickens just run loose. When I add new babies I wait till a hen...
As I said they usually get eaten fairly quickly. If by chance a carton gets left for 6 months it's tossed. But I personally eat eggs out of the bowl on my counter so the ones I eat are either from that day or a few days prior.
I'm sorry I didn't have an answer to your question but I'd rather...
Tonight we're going to have spaghetti with meat sauce and no-kneed bread. I always make a double batch of sauce and put the leftovers in the frig. Then in a couple of days I'll use the leftover sauce to make lasagna.
I want some add some babies to my flock. I have a broody sitting and I plan to stick some babies under her and let her take care of them for me. How long does she need to set before she will be receptive to chicks?

I have some eggs left over from a few of months back that I was hording through the cold months when all I was getting was one or two eggs a day. The days are getting longer and the weather has warmed up so my hens are starting to lay again. I don't want to waste the older eggs so I've been...
Foxes usually have a routine just like we do. They will show up on their rounds at about the same time of day. Figure out their routine and sit out with your chickens at that time. The fox won't come in your yard with a person out there making a bunch of noise. I take my tablet out with me about...
I plan to make it for supper tonight I plan to put it in a roasting pan and surround it with large chunks of potatoes and carrots to roast while the meat is cooking and serve it with some fried cabbage. I'll let you know how it turned out.
We had tuna salad on homemade egg bread for supper last night. Now I need to think of something to make for supper tonight that also uses lots of eggs. LOL Maybe I'll just make breakfast for supper tonight. Fried eggs with biscuits and sausage gravy. Oh, yeah, that sounds good.
