Some people find the illustrations helpful others not so much. I think the combination of the illustration and the written description is the most helpful. We entertained the idea of using photo's of birds instead of illustrations (the ABA Standard is going to be that way) but it was felt since...
Many Sumatras have an extended throat that is close to looking like a dewlap, but even if it has a bit of a dewlap, it is a very minor point cut in a show. 1/2-1 point is nothing to worry about.....although we all strive to have the best bird we can.

If anyone tells you that the standrad does not describe the throat tell them to read it carefully. Look at where it says neck. It says throat full, that is important facts. If I see a clean Almost as if The bird had a Face lift I don't see a full throat. It also ruins the shape of the head...
Someone asked about dewlaps on Sumatra's. (under the chin). Raven posted and was correct. .I think it was on this thread. The APA SOP says that a dewlap on a breed that does not call for a dewlap is a defect..not a DQ. It would be a 1/2 to 1 point deduction. The neck line of a Sumatra should be...
I don't know of any good ones at this time. He looks pretty good, except for the base of the tail. The tail coverts are not covering the undercolor fluff and the comb is not down closer to the head. Over all a solid bird though. I would keep him too....but I really hate mean birds.

I don't have any orientals that are mean to people. They actually are pretty sweet to humans. The males are 33 inches tall so you don't want something like this chasing you.

My Shamo's are worse than the Asils. The females will kill each other if I don't house them correctly. I usee a female that was almost killed by an old male to teach my cockerels some manners. she has a scar that runs from her head to her shoulders and she is a tough old gal. Most of the...
I raise Asils and they start killing each other at about 6 weeks...sometimes sooner. It takes some experience to know where you can get by with a group and where you can't. Even my females are aggressive. Are you sure you want that behavior in your Sumatra's?

1-2 birds you can use any kind of vehicle...lol. I use this van around the farm for all kinds of things. It is my truck. There is a 4x8' box in the back so it is like a pick up truck in the rear. With the rear air is is great for hauling birds or dogs in hot weather.
