Hi,
I am very very new to this chicken stuff! We bought 6 chicks from tsc and I have found now to not take anyones word from the place and to come as infomred as possible! I will next time take pictures and go home research and go back to make my selection! So far I have learned that I have...
Okay...so I did the big no no and I have indeed learned my lesson. Now I need help to help the chickens that I did the big no no to. Okay so here is a short cap of what is going on.
I bought 3 new hens (around 12 weeks old) that have been vaccinated and has their beaks clipped (which I...
Okay I put him in with the hens! He is soo sweet he falls asleep in my arms if I pet him long enough! My 3 original hens (tetra tints) seem to not like him very much (they chase him around) I am assuming this normal?? I hope he makes friends soon. Thank you guys; you have all been very...
Wow that looks just like them! I did quarantine the rooster. When I looked at him for the last few days he seems to be "healthy" as in his stools are fine, he doesnt smell bad or actually no odor at all, and I cleaned up the stuff around the one eye and havent seen any leakage anywhere! When...

Well I guess it is time to find the rooster a home....I just checked on them and he is in the laying box! Just looks wet around eye underneath with some white chunks..very small white chunks (might not have actually came from HIS eye) Thanks
Okay three of them are suppose to be golden comets but I have no idea how old they are (4 months) and the other one which seems to be having a bit of difficulties in confinement; I was told was an Americana and this chicken is HUGE! So my question is
Are three golden comets..indeed golden...
I appreciate everyone's feedback and I will definitely get back to you all on the growing and color of eggs. Does anyone happen to know when I should expect an egg??????
I thought leghorn chickens had "white" earlobes. That is how I determined that the meat chickens were indeed meat chickens because their earlobes turned red!!!?????? Would it be the same if they were some sorta cross as well? Do they have grey legs?
I got all the chickens from tractor supply.....oh and I forgot to add they are all 9 wks and 2 days old....that is me going off of when I purchased them. When I first got them, we were told they were all longhorns and from a straight run. I bought from 2 different barrels. The first 3 ended...
Okay so I am sure I have 3 Pullets....I am now just curious on what I have. Early in their lives a lot people said, tetra tints, Easter Egger and a Delaware Just want to see if everyone still agrees.
Rainbow (possible EE)
Dots (possible Delaware)
Dots is starting to get some brown like...
Oh and there is a lot of chest bumping too between a roo and Monkey and rainbow; I have even seen the roo peck at Dots! I am assuming the rooster will peck and chest bump hens as well......??
That is a relief to hear! I know I have 3 cornish crosses and I know that is the best photo of Monkey but I am sure it is not one since they are all the same age and is only half the size of the other three! I am at the moment trying to get rid of the cornish crosses.......unless someone knows...
they are at least 3 weeks old because I purchased them on the 10th of April. Not sure of the breed or hybrid. Oh and I dont know if this helps or not but they were all yellow chicks with a few black spots on them here and there.

Hi,
I am now thinking I have about 4 roosters and 2 hens out of my small flock! Does anyone live near Fayetteville NC that would like to make some money by sexing my chickens?
