I have a friend with a blind cat caused by a Taurine deficiency. Taurine is a supplement and should be in the list of ingredients in the cat food. It might be a question for the vet.
My sister also has a blind cat. She rescued him after she found him collapsed up against her front door when...
So glad you are getting some answers finally and that with medication, there is hope! Such a dear, sweet cat and loyal companion to Tom. You are wonderful people to do everything you can for him.
I had a Collie dog (really thick hair!) that was attacked by another dog, right on our front porch. He was caught off guard and never made a sound - we just heard loud thumping and finally went to see what the noise was. The other dog ran off but poor Spirit was covered in dog spit. And then...
Next time he gets up, try picking him up and setting him in the kitty litter box. he might need reminding where it is or maybe he's too sore to get to it. Don't let him out! Injured cats will go hide somewhere and you may not be able to find him.
I hope he comes around soon. :hugs
It won't take long for him to acclimate but there may be some sad yowling before it's done - Tom has to be strong! It's for Finn's own good in the end - and better for your vet bills!
Is there some way you can make extra space for Finn in your lower level? Put in a lot of things to amuse him like towers (Tom can build), tunnels, toys and things? He has got to learn to stay in the house or just go out when you and Tom are outside. If you want to keep him healthy, he's...
All of my cats have loved my dogs, after an initial getting-to-know-you period. I used to have a Siamese cat (named Cloudberry) who would go flop down on his back in front of my collie who would then (gently) grab hold of his ear, or sometimes his whole head, and drag him around - he loved it...
Are there any cat rescue groups in the area? Or "Alley Cat Allies" - they do trap, neuter, release. (TNR) He probably wouldn't be wandering so much if he was neutered and he would be more friendly. The local humane society here occasionally has a spay/neuter clinic where people can bring...
Do you have food sitting out for Finn on the deck? If so, that could be attracting all the night visitors. If not, I can't think what would attract them all up on to the deck itself. I had a possum encounter the other night. I keep a 5 gallon pail outside my kitchen door and toss vegetable...
OMG Cyn! That's a lot of nightime activity going on out there! Looks like that lousy black cat sprayed the corner of your house, too! Poor Finn. He's got a lot to keep his eye on and they are definitely invading his territory!
