I have a Dominique rooster that is about 5 months old. He is beautiful but sadly he has to go; roosters are not allowed where we live. We are willing to meet you as long as it's not too far. Will post a picture later today.
So we have 7 chickens in all, one of which is a Jersey Giant. She is usually very laid back and sweet, none of the other chickens seem to mess with her and she doesn't mess with them. Shes not at the top of the pecking order but usually has a confidant look. However, she has been molting the...
We just got two new chickens and I was just curious about what breeds they are. The new ones are the one on the left and the middle one in the picture. Any input would be great! Thanks!
I just introduced my 5 month old Buff Orpington into my flock of 5 last night. This morning I went to check on her and the back half of her comb was torn off and I think one of my other chickens probably attacked her. I cleaned the wound with water and I have put neosporin and corn starch on to...
We have a Black Japanese Bantam that is about a year old now. When we first got her, she was laying an egg almost every day but recentlyhas been laying an egg everyday for about a week every month or so and then she will just stop. And then about a month later she will do the same thing. She is...
One of our chicken's eye looks very weird. It kind of looks like there if a bubble of fluid in front of her iris and pupil and everything. None of the other four chickens have anything like it. Please let me know your opinion!
We have five chickens in a medium sized chicken coop with a 12 foot run. We just have dirt in our run but a friend of ours uses sand in theirs. She said the sand drains well, is easy to clean, and the chickens can also use it as grit. I just wanted to get a few more opinions.
Also, is there...
A friend of ours has a chicken that we would like to get but it has bumble foot.
So my questions are:
Is bumble foot contagious to other chickens?
How do you treat it at home without going to the vet?
"Fro" is a very friendly White Crested Black Polish rooster that we have hand raised from a chick. He is 4 months old and will be crowing soon. Our township doesn't allow roosters so we can't keep him. :(
We live in Springfield, PA, 19064
He needs to go soon before he starts crowing and we...
The breeds that I would be most interested in are a Laced Wyandotte or a Partridge Rock. A buff orpington would be fine too. Really anything that's pretty. We only want TWO.
"Fro" is a very nice and tame cockerel that we can't keep because of our township laws. He is a 4 month old White Crested Black Polish. Willing to deliver if not too far. We live in Springfield, PA 19064.
Hi, I'm not sure what genders these are. Please help!
This is Lily/Leo
She/he is an 8-week old chick. We aren't sure about the gender because it has the long tail feathers but no comb.
(I think if you click on the pictures they get larger)...
I need a good layer that is pretty and 3-8 weeks old. I would prefer one of these breeds:
Buff Orpington
Black Star (Black sex-linked)
Delaware
Any Laced Wyandotte
Speckled Sussex
Ancona
Andelusion
Amber Star
We just bought a 3 week old Barred Rock chick today and on the way home I noticed that her feet were very hot and she kept sneezing. Is this some kind of virus or something? It was 101 degrees outside today so she might just be overheated.
We have a 7 week-old Polish chick that can see just fine right now but I've seen our friends' Polish and the poor thing can't see anything untill it's right next to her. So I was wondering what I can do to keep our Polish's head feathers out of her eyes so she can see.
