fertilized eggs 17 dauys after roosters death

Well, I finally lost count of how many days its been since my rooster died. I guess that's a good thing. I was quite surprised to gather eggs today for fried eggs for lunch and find that I still have three hens laying fertilized eggs. It has in fact been 17 days since he died. Could that still...

    i'm confused about necrospy results...

I got final necropsy results in today, and it seems my rooster died from a severe trachea infection due to somthing lodged in mucous plug in his throat. He had pneumonia, which caused the mucous. But what caused the pnemonia seems to be a bit of a mystery. He was negative for mareks, avian flu...

just lost my rooster, now one of my hens is a subdued *necropsy result

waiting and waiting, but not for eggs

He is starting to spar with the other pullets who are not laying, but he runs from the bigger hens. He's not doing anything protective, but for the last couple of days he has...

    roosters and their mothers

I aquired a laying hen and what was supposed to be 2 of her pullets. They were about 6 wks old at the time. Well, I'm pretty sure on of those pullets is a roo. I do want to raise chicks, but would it be acceptable for him to father chicks by his mother? Seems awful weird to me, but maybe...

young rooster behavior (if this is a roo)

Hello. I'm fairly new to this chicken thing, and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me on. I have 5 laying hens, and 6 others who are very close to laying or a little younger. My youngest ones are about 12 weeks old. I also have another chicken, that I've raised with this...
