We are new to rabbits. I am looking at purchasing a buck for my doe and would really like to breed the 2...only thing is, they have the same father........yes or no to using them as a breeding pair?
Our guineas have just started laying like crazy and no one is showing any signs of wanting to set yet. I collected these 25 Friday, yesterday and today and I will send whatever else is layed until tomorrow!!
We have Coral Blue, Violet, Lavendar and White. They all free range together and come...
We have a bantam cochin that was h*ll bent on setting on eggs. After 2 weeks of trying to break her we put eggs under her to hatch. They were due to hatch starting tomorrow. I went out to her crate this morning and she off the nest eating and drinking. She had kicked 2 eggs out of the nest...
Well I am picking up 8 call ducks on Saturday. I can hardly wait. I have done a lot of research, but know that you folks here always have the best advice and ideas, etc. that I thought I would throw this out at ya and see what you have to say.
I thank you as always for your advice!!
I have the chance to purchase chocolate call ducks that are 3 years old. I know nothing about ducks and this will be my first experience. Are ducks like chickens....meaning, if I want fertile eggs, are ducks still "viable"...good breeders at 3?
I appreciate the advice as always
I have decided to finally try to raise some ducks and would like to start with Calls!! I am open to any color BUT white. Does anyone have any eggs available? And would it be safe to ship to Michigan right now?
Thanks as always
Amy
We have our first ever broody hen....YAY....but she has no feathers on her belly. Is this normal? I was a bit concerned for her since it is freezing cold here......
Thanks as always
I have 6 week old chicks that have taken to pecking on one poor little chick. I have separated them....they have pecked the back of her head so bad that a large area is down to the muscle underneath. The wound doesn't look bad ("meaty" or icky), and isn't bleeding. The chick isn't acting like...
Hello.......I'm hoping that you experts in silkies can help me out here. I purchased some very pricey hatching eggs from a woman that lives an hour away from me that has show quality Silkies. I purchased 6 splash and 6 blue. The chicks that hatched out of the splash batch are 6 weeks old and...
Hello BYCers!! I was wondering if anyone has used the Coryza vaccine on their flock? And it looks like there are only 2 places to get it.....Jeffers and First State??????
Thanks in advance for the info.
We had some chickens that were sick and we bought the powdered vits/elec to put in the water. We have some left, and because it is so good for them, will it hurt to put it in their water all the time?
We are going to close our flock because we have sneezing and snotty noses. I just can't cull them, and we have been treating them with Terramycin until our Tylan 50 comes from the Chicken Dr.....and he believes we are dealing with coryza.
I would like to hear from people that have successfully...
I have 2 hens that have a swollen face, only on one side, with a bubbly discharge from the eyes and a clear discharge from the nose that does not smell.
One hen is 6 months old, the other hen I'm not sure....at least 2 years.
We have them quarantined and I will be making a trip to TSC this...
I have a few ?'s about the Ivermectin 5% pour on.....
Is it correct that you can use the Iver. to take care of lice in birds over 4 months of age? Or should I dust them again?
I treated all the birds with the Perm. dust last Saturday....is it correct to redust all birds under 4 months today...
Ok.....so we have a rooster that is about 6 months old, eating layer mash now, and has pine bedding in the coop. Because of other symptoms with other chickens, we have wormed and dusted for mites/lice. We did that on Saturday.....so now one of our roos is "purring". There is no discharge from...
We have concluded that our hen has gapeworms. Here are a few questions I have:
1. Do we treat all chickens?
2. Looks like we can treat with Safeguard....correct?
3. Do we need to withdraw eating the eggs and for how long?
Thanks in advance. I'm planning on going to the Feed Store tomorrow...
We have a Dominique that has been in our flock for 2 years now. She has been making a funny, almost raspy sound from her throat for a few seconds, and than she goes for an hour or so before she does it again......been doing this for almost a week now. She is eating/drinking fine, laid an egg...
