Ok I heard that Easter and Olive eggers start laying around 7 months. But at about 20 weeks this is what I'm getting. And they all started the same week. I'm guessing the green eggs are from the Olive egger and Easter egger. I'm also surprised at how close the Easter egger colors are like the...
Ok I have two questions. First are speckled eggs normal? If so do the chickens always lay speckled or is it occasional? Next question. I'm surprised at how close my Olive egger and Easter egger egg colors are? I can definetly tell a difference but I was just surprised. Anyone else experience this?
I am really torn rather this bird is a hen or roo. Some of the characteristics look like a Roo and some look like a hen. This bird is 16 weeks old. I have heard this breed is slow to mature and it defiantly grew slower than my other hens. The bird is my most docile out of my flock. It is making...
I want to thank everyone here who helped me realize a dream of mine to have chickens. Back in March I posted that I was ready to cancel my chick order because I was so overwhelmed at how we could get a coop done. We had no skills. But many of you encouraged me and we kept the chick order and got...
Back in April I was ready to cancel my chick order because I was so overwhelmed with the thought of building a coop and run. Well many of you gave me support and I'm pleased to say that the coop is done! We converted some of our shed to the coop and it turned out really cute. The chicks are in...
Hi I can't have roosters where I live and one of my 17 -6 week d chicks is definetly a rooster. Is there any reasons to keep him around for a few months before getting rid of him? I guess I'm wondering if roosters help establish the pecking order among the ladies or help to maintain some kind...
Sooo my sexed chick is lookin a little fishy...can't have Roos where I live. I have 17 chicks all the same age and this little one is the only one with a red comb and wattle...should I find a home for him now? Is there any doubt that this is a roo?
Just wondering when I can give clumps of grass and dandelions to the chicks? They are three days old and in an indoor brooder. Just looking for things to entertain.
I am building my brooder this week. Before building I am wondering how long I will need to keep baby chicks inside. When they could move to garage? When they could move to the coop? ( I have no other hens to contend with). I get the baby chicks May 18. When they are three weeks old the average...
It has been a long time dream of mine to have chickens. I ordered my chicks last week. They arrive May 18. I have been reading forums on this website (like months of reading) to get lots of knowledge on ventilation, building a predetor safe coop and run, run drainage issues, etc. now I feel so...
Does anyone know where I could get an olive egger baby chick online? I have searched a few more known hatcheries and they are all out. I was hoping to have a colorful egg basket. I am looking for chicks that will lay blue, green, pink, brown etc. and that will do well in Utah. Thanks!!
Sooo after years of asking, my husband has given me the green light to get chickens! So excited! I have been researching different coops out there for sale. The really good ones are quite a bit of money. The cheaper ones are too small or too cheaply made. I keep looking out my window at this...
Husband is ready to give chicks away if I don't get them out of the house. It is 40 degrees at night and 60s in day. Can they go out yet? They are 4 weeks old and seem to have lots of feathers. Here is a pic of them I just took tonight. Little stinkers keep jumping over the cardboard.
I have a chick that is 24 hr old that is constantly pecking at the other feet, head, and if I seperate him he goes crazy and runs around and peck at anything and his own feet. I have no idea what to do. I had to remove all chicks from incubator because there was a bad smell. I have cleaned it...

My chicks that hatched this morning are still wet. I think the humidity is too high becasue they are slipping on water in the incubator. I have a mini advanced Brinsea. It does not have a hygrometer. I don't know what to do. Please help?looks like she is on her head but I was taking the pic...
Here is my brinsea mini advanced. I do not have a hygrometer or whatever. I just followed the directions to fill both reservoirs but the humidity seems to be really high. Should i do anything. Third one is hatching now. some water is actually coming out the bottom of the incubator.
I should have got on here before because I don't know if I have messed everything up. I have a brinsea incubator that holds seven eggs. The automatic egg turner has not turned today so I guess i am in lock down. But...I had to lift the lid to put more water in and take out the egg turner. So...
