I am located in NH, and raise a variety of breeds, but obtaining good stock of the speckled sussex is almost impossible up here! Please let me know if you have them and if there is any availability of eggs or chicks. Trying to avoid straight hatchery stock.
Thank you!
I have heard many people talk about this difference in polish.
Im assuming cavernous means larger and more open? Or does it mean something else?
Not sex guessing soley on this, but what about the difference?
Non cavernous= male?
Cavernous= female?
Or other way around? LOL.

At the end of a very successfull hatch...except this last one...too big and was shrink wrapped..pipped a LONG time ago. Had to intervene. Yolk is absorbed, got her out of the shell, EXCEPT for one piece of shell with umbilical. I know I may lose her nomatter what and she would have NEVER...
Looking for some French Black Copper Marans hatching eggs. Strong egg color is very important. Please pm me with any info and pictures. I am in NH. Price is not an issue for the right eggs.
Found this under the roost today... This photo is after I cleaned it to see what it was! It is from one of 2 of my EE girls who has been laying occasional soft shelled eggs.( I can discern it is one of two by the egg color, just not sure which girl!) Often times she lays them right f

I have 3 Light Brahmas. Two have been laying since 19 weeks(they are 23 weeks now), and the third is physically no where near ready to lay. For the past 2 weeks, one of them lays every other day, and the other lays 2 eggs a day, 3 days in a row, takes a day off then 2 eggs a day for 3 days...
Finally got my first egg! Actually 2 of them. Both laid by these two light Brahmas...they are such tiny little eggs :)
Now, here is the issue...they both laid them in the middle of the coop floor! Should I take the eggs and put them in a nesting box so they get the ides? Any advice...
I swear, I have no patience in the waiting game! I have 2 Buff Brahmas, (Snugs, and Sally)same hatch date, same clutch. They have both always looked different. 20 1/2 weeks old today.
I questioned weather or not Snugs was a roo for much of her youth...just based on the look on her face! :) I...
I have 4 EE's, one FBCM and 2 Buff Brahmas.
One of the Buff Brahmas can NEVER...and I mean NEVER , pick up a meal worm or any other treat from my hands, or off the ground. I actually have to hole her and nearly shove it in her mouth or she misses out on the treats! I suppose if she had enough...
Posted this on the BCM discussion thread but it seems that thread has really slowed down......Its been about a week since I took these pics and the comb is still the same....
S/he is about 5-6 weeks...I think????? The comb is bigger than many that I see on here but I swapped pics with another...
The infamous question.....

And Sally at 6 weeks...
I bought a coop from the local agway...it was very affordable, perfect size and I can "finish" it myself.
I want to insulate the sides and roof ...being in New England, we have some VERY cold winters. Here are some pics of the outside and inside of the coop...it is a 4' x 7' structure...
First of all i know it is very early to be able to tell male or female. The breeder I got them from vent sexes them and wing feather sexes them...though she will be the first to say it it not 100% :)
I have EE chicks that are now 8 days old. They are all wonderful and starting to feather out...
I grew up on a farm raising chickens, ducks and goats...in my mid teen, parents got divorced and our farm went bye-bye! Now, as a 40 yr old woman with 2 little girls ages 6 and 3 I want them to have the experience of owning and loving chickens!
We live in a rural town on 10 acres of land and...
I bought my chicks from a woman who breeds "Ameraucanas"....and I know that is a term used loosely with this breed right now as I am finding that most of them are EE's.
Please keep in mind that at this point it doesnt matter to me...I am in love with each and every one of them :) Curious on...
