So I have two Pekins and two Cayugas, all supposed to be girls, all five and a half months old. I've been getting one large and one small white to greenish off-white eggs for the last two weeks, so I assume these are the Pekins'. One of my Cayugas, Frances, has been acting kind of dominant and...
I have two Pekins and two Cayugas, all (supposedly) females and about 13 weeks old. I have never had ducks before, so I don't know what to expect, but these ducks are loud. And they don't like to be alone, so they quack as loudly as possible when they want company. I got Cayugas because they...
So I got two Pekins and two Cayugas in December, all (supposed to be) females. They are almost nine weeks old.
One of my Pekins does this thing every once in a while where she vibrates her chest and throat and then juts her head forward over my arm if I go to pet her. I know she's...

I know they are only about a week old, but I want to know when I can start giving them more variety in their diet. I'm a little worried about them getting enough of all the proteins and minerals they need. I'm feeding them the right food, but still... It's also too cold outside for them right...
Anyone have Cayuga ducks? Comments? Also Indian Runner ducks... I really like them and they seem like they have fun personalities, but they are skittish.
I feel like it isn't hard to hatch ducklings, but it takes time and monitoring temperature and humidity. And it seems super stressful. What do you say? Is it better to just order some already hatched ducklings or to try to hatch them?
I keep reading things about how calm they are, but are the calmer ones more friendly?
My mom wants a couple of ducks that will follow her around the yard and keep her company when she's gardening (which she does a lot). She loves ducks and had them as a kid, and I'm finally convincing her to...
