My gosling has this I've noticed with his beak. He eats fine and its not crooked if you look straight down on it...only if you look straight at it, the top portion is swayed a bit. Here are some pics. If you notice on the round tip and draw an imaginary line up to his head, you'll see what I...
My gosling got a cut under his beak and it's getting quite swollen. I have used peroxide to clean it and then first aid ointment for people. Is this bad? Do I need a special bird ointment or can I use triple antibiotic ointment or first aid ointment?
I had little plastic bowls (jello cups) and they kept tipping it over. Now I have a dog bowlt hat doesn't tip over, but they are getting in it and its ending up wetter than before...i just can't win...what should I do to keep it water free on teh bedding?
I noticed the gosling had red where the "whites of the eyes" should be and the wing "elbow" part was showing bright red skin...so that along with the fact that he seemed to get worse under the brooder light made me think to take his temp. Now I know nothing about geese temperatures...but his was...

I just bought a blue silkie hen. She was supposedly born sometime last november...she isn't what I would call"show quality" from what I've seen on pics (I am not sure when they should look their best when it comes to feathering)..
Anyway, this guy said that white silkies don't have the blue...
I just saw an ad for a silkie that was 220 bucks...then I saw other ads for 25 dollars....is there a difference...show quality is worth more? or how can you even tell the difference. I want to get probably 1 or 2 just because of their reputation for pets...
What do they normally go for?

I am wanting most likely 1 or 2 silkies (preferably hand raised for tameness and egg laying age...but chicks acceptable as well.)
I want the silkies mostly for the kids to pet etc (i heard they are the dogs of the chicken world) but I also want some high...

I have a baby sebbie...she is alone...I have nothing due for another 2 weeks and no other birds....she keeps peeping and peeping and I'll hold her and she'll be fine, but I am worried since she just hatched this afternoon that she should be in the brooder (which won't get any higher than 92...
I had an egg in which the gosling was stretching the air cell membrane but never pipped it...When I opened it, I found that the baby was positioned the opposite way of the air cell....its head was still up where it needed to be (not breech) but instead of trying to pip the air cell..it was...
