    Help identifying

A few days ago, I lost my flock to 3 feral dogs. I was devastated, but my husband said it just didn't feel right not having chickens, so we decided to go to the stockyard and see what was for sale. We went with the mindset that we were going to get a breed we knew, but hubby fell in love and bid...

    Lost all my chickens today.

This morning as I was going out to feed my flock, I found three wild dogs in the run. They killed every one of my chicks. It was absolute carnage. The dogs are trapped in the run, and we are waiting for animal control. I am heartbroken. My husband has tried to console me. He says that now that...

    Egg in the run

When I went out to feed my chicks the other day, I saw an egg in the middle of the run. Hasn't happened before or since. Any idea why one of my girls would do that?

Orpington/Campine? Would they make a good mix?

Someone just gave us a breeding pair of silver campines. But I just love my Buff Orpingtons. What do you guys think about breeding them? I would love any thoughts, since I'm new to this. Here's a shot of my rooster and favorite Orpington

One of our Buffs was bigger than the others and had a much bigger crest. We were sure she was a boy, but she laid an egg. Her name is Pat.

    Can't tell em apart!

I'm new to chickens, so excuse this dumb question.... We have 6 buff orpingtons. One of them, we were sure was a rooster, but we saw her lay an egg. Her name is Pat. The other 5 look exactly alike. Since they are just starting to lay, we would like to know who's who. Someone is laying rubber...

    Sick Hen! Please Help

I am brand new to raising chickens, but I have already become quite close to my 9 hens. One of them is not acting right, and I am afraid we might lose her. I'm hoping someone here might be able to help. I noticed yesterday that one of my Buff Orpingtons was looking very lethargic. I thought...
