Suicide gene
Is it just me or is there a suicide gene in Cots, I've been watching all my batches each time I hatch and it seems that I have the gene. 1 out of 40 birds always commits suicide after 8 weeks. I've been writing it down each time and for the last 6 hatches they have all had 1 or 2 commit suicide... -

I have 4 hens and one drake, I've been getting 2 eggs for 2 months now and got a third (a day) couple weeks ago. these birds are about 6.5 7 months old. what's the latest they will lay? and do they lay without artificial light during winter? -

Startina food for ducklings (too much protien???)
So I raise quail and use the game bird chow Startina (30% protein), it says it can be used for ducks but I read a post on here about too much protein can be bad? Is there any proof that it is? if so can someone link the source of that research? I would think they would just poop out what... -
eggs at 103 degrees overnight... any hope?
I have 16 Khaki Campbell eggs in my bator and this morning the egg temp was 103... for some reason our power must of flickered and reset the incubator back to it's default temp... they only have a week to go tomorrow, hope I didn't kill them...- Invision

Ducks in salt water (like the ocean)
Has anyone noticed if eggs taste different if the ducks have access to the salt water? I live next to the bay and I will be hatching out some Khaki's and have been told they can fly if they get the training.
