We're moving from suburbia to little ranch an hour away. I'm at a loss on how to "pack" and transport 12 hens,9 ducks, & 6 geese.
I'm hoping someone here will have some ideas, suggestions, or experiences to share.
Needing to find a Pilgrim Gander in north central Texas. We lost our sweet gander to coyotes and now his widow is alone. I hate seeing her by herself so we're willing to pick up within 100 miles of th thed Dallas area.
Our goose is 9 months old and recently began laying. I prefer a gander near...
I have a Muscovy pair that live with my chickens. Aviva is about 6 months old and has begin laying. I'm pretty certain the eggs are fertilized as Vincent has been a very busy boy.
Recent temperatures have been in the 30s (Fahrenheit) and with just 3 eggs so far, she's not sitting. I want her to...
I've noticed mites on my hens. Most just had a few but one girl was pretty infested. I'll be treating them with ivermectine and disinfecting the coop this weekend.
My concern is that I have a goose and two muscovy that share the coop. I've not checked the webbies for mites, but I'm assuming...
I have some left over chai CHIA seeds and thought I'd add them to the hens' treat mix if its safe for them. I did a byc search and didn't find anything so bringing the question to the chicken professionals. :D
...or place to board my duck

Doodles is 3 months old & spends most of his day and all night in the house. He is kennel trained (when he feels...

Kwackerjack is about 2 months old now and stays in the house 98% of the time & very spoiled. LOL so of course I want only the best for him while also keeping him happy and content.
Let me start by saying his primary diet is "H and H Soy Free Non GMO Feed" but at 26% protein, I 50/50 it with...
I've read there are different types of duck poops but not sure what's normal as in consistency, color,& odor. My 5 week old duck often expels a seriously unpleasant liquid.
It's dark brown to blackish with consistency between milk &soft yogurt. It's usually accompanied by an audibly wet gasous...
So I was googling away looking for sound bites of duckling calls & means when I came across this "wiki-like" page. I was cracking up so thought I'd share the smiles.
(New here so hope this is ok)

I have a single 2 week old duckling and I'm looking to get him/her a friend. Qwackerjack was hatched here and is bonded with us.
My questions:
Should we get a duckling or incubate another egg? A week or two old duckling would be easiest & most immediate solution. But since Qwackerjack is human...
I'd like to share the story of my little Qwackerjack. Please be kind, I'm sure many may not approve but I did what I thought was the right thing to do at the time
I visit a local park a few days a week to feed the ducks and geese and to de-stress. It's beautiful with big trees and nice creek...
Do ducks eat duckweed? Anyone here grow it for their ducks?
Toying with idea of putting in a koi/duck pond and add some duckweed for the fish. Hoping if the ducky eats it also, maybe the weed wouldn't become too invasive.?.
I have a week old duckling and was wondering what people offer their ducks to enrich their environment.
So far Qwackerjacks seems to like cat ball with bell inside and a couple other little kitty toys (pilfered from the cats' toybox). I've thought about a big hanging toy like ones for parrots too.
There was an egg. Was it fertile? Let's see. Built homemade incubator, monitored temp/humidity, turned 5-7 times a day. Candled at one week and amazed it was indeed fertilized! Candled again about a week later, saw movement (wing?) and fell in love.
July 29th, our sweet Qwackerjack left his...
