We bought these two as Cochin bantams, but they look a little different from the other cochins we have. They are 6 or 7 weeks old. Just wanted your opinions. I think I have one pullet and one roo. Am I right? Thanks!
I think this one might be a pullet?
I think this one is a roo?

This sweet little cochin bantam is 6 weeks old believe it or not. It is soooo tiny and is not even as big as it looks because it is so fluffly. Any ideas on the color and gender? Sorry if the pictures are not that great. Thank you!
I have had my silkies for a little over six weeks. I thought they were 2-3 weeks old when I got them, but now I am thinking they were older. Any ideas on the sex and age of this one? I have 5 altogether, but could not get pictures of all of them yet.
Here they are right after I got them back...
Ok, so, I got two pullets from Orschelyn's (sp?) They are around 7 weeks old. Is it just me or did I get one roo? Or can they develop at different rates? Thank You!
Here is the suspect:
Here is the one I am pretty sure is a pullet:
This little sweetie is about 6 or 7 weeks old. Any ideas on what color this is and what it will look like later on? They are starting to get some reddish/buff mixed in on them. Here are pictures from different stages of growth. Thank you!
These Polish chicks are about 7 weeks old. I got them out of the bantam bin at Orschelyn's (sp?) Any ideas on their gender yet? Thank you for your help!!! Really hoping at least one is a pullet because I already have 2 other big polish roosters!

We bought eggs to hatch and were told they were RIR's, but now I am beginning to wonder if they are really sex links. One of them is really a lot lighter colored with a lot of white on it and it is starting to show some pink in its comb and some roo-like behavior. The other 4 are more red and...
These cochin bantams are almost 3 weeks old. The grey colored one is sooo tiny compared to the rest. I have taken pictures of it and of another one with a can of beans for comparison. Pictures really don't show the true difference in the size of the 2. Also, shouldn't they be feathered out...
I re-seeded my yard with Pennington grass seed that is treated with a fungicide. We still have a lot of grass, but have some thin and bare spots. I usually let the chickens out every morning and they go back up at dusk. I did not let them out today for fear of them eating the treated grass...
Does the appearance of tail feathers tell you anything for these chicks? I have 2 BA's that were both supposed to be pullets, but one has tail feathers already started and the other one does not. I also have 5 RIR's, some with and some without. Is that any indication of them being a pullet or...
The white chick on the right with the stripes- what color is he going to be? I assume white with black spots, but not sure. Is there a name for that? If you know what breed the one in the far back is let me know that to, because I am still not sure on that one. Thank you!
Yesterday I found that one of my cochin chicks had a pasty butt. So I got a warm wet paper towel and got it cleaned up. I have been checking on it frequently. This afternoon, it had just a little dried poo, so I soaked her bottom in lukewarm water and cleaned her up and put baby oil on her...
I get e-mails from Chicken 101, a yahoo group and this was in one of the e-mails I received today. I have not tried this myself, but thought someone might want to try it. Here is what it said:
Suggestions:
Feed only a layer, a scant sprinkle of red pepper's (dried crushed chili peppers) in the...
So now that these chicks have feathered out a little more I was hoping that someone might have more ideas on the sex and color? One is still feathered out a lot more than the other one. Thank you!
original post:
What color and sex do you think these are? One of them is more feathered out on...
I posted this a few weeks ago, still not 100% sure of what they are. I am hoping that since they have grown a little, I might get more ideas. I do think now that I have a pullet and a cockerel. What do you think of the breed and sex? Thanks for your help!
We got these cute little chicks...
Is this a hen or roo? Also, what color would you call it? It is still pretty young. Sorry the pictures are not that great. He/She was not cooperating this morning. Camera shy I think. If you need more pics I can try again. Thank you!
I am feeding my chicks, chick starter. The directions say to feed for first 8 weeks. I feed my adult chickens layer crumbles. The directions say not to feed until they are 18 weeks. So my question is, what do I feed them weeks 9 through 17? Is there an all purpose feed for that?
Ok, so I know this is a cochin bantam. I think it is a pullet. Is that right? I thought she was going to be black, but on the ends of her wing feathers, they have some brown stripes going on. So what color do you think she will be? Also, how old do you think she is? Thank you!
