is there something you can give or have done to a hen to keep her from producing eggs even if she's only 2 years old? I have a beautiful EE that i just love but danged it if she doesnt have a heck of a time laying decent eggs. MABIE she will have changed after this last molt, but im not...
My daughter sent home the neck and heart etc with me to give to my dogs (raw), (actually i LOVE cooking the neck for us but forgot to so now prob wont) but could i give that to chickens?? raw? or cooked?
how can you tell the age of a hen? I have two that i really dont know how old they are except to trust what the previous owner told me. Im a 'truster' but in the future espacially, it would be something mabie handy to know. Thanks
I know the age of my 6 redstars, but when i got my EE's (ok, sold to me as americanas and i really didnt care nor know any differnt at the time;) ) they said they were 1 1/2 years old. I would guess they were truthful, but is there any way to tell for sure?? Thanks for any info..
Im wanting to use hotwire but dont want to just jump into doing it and finding a much better way to do so. I'd sure love to see some shots of how others have done it so i dont make too many mistakes.. Thanks for anyone who can help out.

I went looking for the hardware cloth and found metal lath wire 1.75 that i think would be perfect around the bottom and vent areas of my coop and run. Anyone know of this stuff?? It's 96 inches long (8ft) and i think 24 high for only 3.89 a sheet and i can in no way see anything including rats...
As in, some would rather sit on the 'litter' itself, rather than on the roost just inches above it. Could they not be 'balanced' enough to roost? they are 24 weeks old and egg layers.

im just wondering if a daily routien for chickens is necessary or is it better to have no routien. Example: one morning out of coop and run to free range at 6am, the then next morning at 7am etc. Does that mess with them or is this 'no' routien better. They always have access to coop, food...
