I have these 2 silkies (three pictures of each one), who I believe are female, but because I have a customer waiting that can only have hens, I want to be sure! They are about 4 1/2 to 5 months old!
I have several white, one buff, and perhaps other colors, as new ones are starting to crow, Silkie roosters I need to rehome. My original flock is all from Catdance (eggs I hatched) and they are beautiful! I am in Oak View, CA (between Ventura and Santa Barbara). Thank you!
I am trying to sort out my black males from females in my silkie flock. No one is crowing yet, but some have started to get the green/blue iridescence in their tail feathers, even though they don't have "streamers" yet. Do hens ever have this coloring in their tails? Or am I safe to assume...
OK, feeling rather silly, but we are new to the whole meat chicken thing. We have butchered 2 of our Cornish X that are approximately 8 weeks old , one due to having difficulty breathing, and the other a leg issue. Both were put into a killing cone, throat slit, bled out, then we followed the...
I had great success with Catdance eggs last spring (March), and ended up with over 13 roosters. I plan to keep several, but need homes for others. I have a buff, several whites, partridge, and a black with some silver leakage on his neck feathers. If you are interested in seeing pictures of a...
This handsome guy was hatched from a Catdance egg last spring. I hatched 2 and can only keep one, so he needs a new home! I will be happy to send more pictures if desired! Local pickup only. I am in Oak View , California (Near Ventura)
I hatched out 6 sillkie babies 10 days ago and all were doing great until yesterday when my favorite of the bunch started sleeping a lot, isolating itself, and looking generally lethargic. I have given it water with a bit of sugar, and chick saver, and it has eaten a tiny bit. They are getting...
I hatched out several EE roosters about 4 months ago, and they are slated to be butchered this week. They are beautiful, but alas way too many for my small flock! I just thought I would offer them first to anyone in my area, as I certainly would prefer to rehome! I would be happy to email...
OK, out of 4 eggs this spring, we hatched 3 roos..... I only have 7 hens - so need to get rid of two of them. One is a no brainer - but the other two ? My DH wants the large EE to stay - and that roo is the dominant one, the most friendly, gentle and will eat out of our hands. But, I love...
Sorry, I don't know if I should post here or in injuries..so move it if needed.
I have a Jersey giant (and she is giant) with an EE chick, and mutt chick. The EE started limping yesterday. I was not there to see what happened, but she was very rambunctious and healthy earlier, so my guess is...
This is our first time hatching chicks, and I had 2 broodys to help me! I put 4 eggs under one, 3 under the other . Both were perfect broody momma's. 2 chicks hatched under each hen 2 days early. One hen abandoned her last egg yesterday to show the ways of the chicken world to her chicks...
