My co-worker had a rooster get into her back yard numerous times over the weekend. They kept putting him back over the 8' privacy fence, but he kept returning. Their terrier would go after him so they had to keep putting the dog up and locking the doggie door. Yesterday the rooster showed up...
My local feed store, who gets their chicks from Ideal Hatchery, had some Bantams left over and offered them to me cheap if I would I take them home. They know I have sucker on my forehead under my bangs...lol.
So here they are. There are 5, but my cell phone did not want to take a photo of...
I have 2 young buff-laced Polish chicks, about a month old. I thought this might be too young to tell the gender, but their heads lookg fairly different in both puff and comb area, so I'm hoping maybe I have one of each. Anyone care to guess?
Chick #1
Chick #2
I thought I had buffs, but now it looks like I have 3 different colors. I was curious if you guys could let me know what color you think they are and if you can tell gender yet.
Pics were taken right when I got them home, but they look much brighter and healthier now.
Left to right Mille Fleur D'Uccle, 2 buff Silkies, and Buff -laced Polish bantams?
Left to right Mille Fleur D'Uccle, Buff Silkie
I was at TSC at lunch and ended up buying 6 more dang bantam chicks. I could not help myself. They are holding them for me until I get off work since I bought them their own condo with waterers and feeders and lights while I was there. I have sucker written on my foreheard.
Anyway, 2 are...
I take photos just about every weekend, so I have quite a few of my chickens that I thought I would share. I have mostly EEs because my egg customers love the colored eggs.
This first one is an old lady from my very first order of chicks (Rainbow Egglayers group).
Not a great photo as I took it with my phone. He/she is a very tiny chick, smaller than my Cochin bantam chicks. He is about the same size, maybe a tad smaller, than my silver Sebright chicks. Any ideas on identification?
I think I may have done a bad thing. I had a Buff Orp hatch 7 eggs of mostly full-sized chicks, one is much smaller than the others. So yesterday I'm at TSC and start feeling sorry for the tiny bantam chicks and end up taking 7 home with me. I deposited them with the hen and her chicks, added...
I have a broody hatching out some eggs and so far 6 have hatched. They all seem healthy and are eating/drinking well, but one is tiny. When I say tiny, I mean tiny; like 1/2 the size of the other chicks. Does this necessarily mean it will be a smaller chicken or will it catch up to the...
About a year or so ago, I posted photos of a very pale lemoney colored chick because I was wondering what he might grow up to look like. I thought I would update with a photo of how he turned out for anyone who was interested.
He's super sweet and everyone goes crazy for his coloring. I'm...
Ok, so a lady on another board (non-chicken related) was posting photos of her indoor chicken coop. It looks to be in her living room basically and she said they built it because the chickens, Seramas, can't be outdoors at night. She also stated that they are very valuable and she got a deal...
Three SL Wyandotte/ EE crosses and one Buff Orpington/ EE cross. Trying to decide what sexes these guys are. I hatched these guys to see if I could get a larger coloured egg, so it's just my little experiment to see what I get. I know my one EE rooster has sired green or blue egg layers...
I think I previously posted this in the wrong forum, so sorry for the double post.
One of my hens decided she wanted to go broodie, so I put 4 eggs under her and let her hatch them. The chicks are getting feathers now and starting into that ugly duckling stage. Three of the chicks look very...
One of my hens decided she wanted to go broodie, so I put 4 eggs under her and let her hatch them. The chicks are getting feathers now and starting into that ugly duckling stage. Three of the chicks look very similar, but one chick has feathers coming in that are light lemon coloured with...
I know there is a breed of chicken that is naked necked, but I don't own any of those and this egg was hatched by one of my hens from one of my eggs. He has had the bald neck and is bald on most of his head since hatched a few weeks ago. Is there something wrong with him to cause this...
First, please excuse the mess. I stuck all of the chicks in a small coop while cleaning their pens and managed to spill a ton of chick feed in with them.
The smaller chicks are Buff Orphinton and Silver-laced Wyandottes. The quail looking chick is a Bantam chick my only Bantam hen hatched...
Ok, so my Bantam went broodie and I let her keep 8 eggs. Two were quitters, and she hatched 5 so far. Everything was going well, until the feral cats found her and the chicks. I found her fighting them off this am, so a grabbed her and her chicks up and put them in a hutch inside the coop so...
