I know the title is very long, but, my questions relate to what happened today. We gave away six golden comets that stopped laying. They all roosted in Coop No. 1. We bought six new hens (five weeks ago) that roosted in Coop No. 2. Suddenly tonight the new hens took residence in Coop No. 1...
Around four o'clock in the afternoon, my chickens go into a panic (not everyday). We are near the woods but could this be a hawk or an owl. I checked
everywhere for any animals. Today, they actually ran into the coop in a complete panic, Any ideas?
There was one huge egg and one collapsed egg still in the membrane. This took two days with
warm baths, massaging and quiet time. She is now in a dog crate in our living room. It was a
terrible experience. Will this happen again? Also, will I have to reintroduce her to the flock?
My chicken is here in my kitchen. I think I lost my chance to help her expel the egg since I put one finger up the vent and a blob of red matter is extruding. This is probably her intestines.I originally felt the egg but now it seems to have slipped further up. I tried steam, warm bath and...
Suddenly, my hens are making big holes in their straw in the coop during the day. The coop looks like a beach ball has landed. Why have they just started doing this?

I know this topic has been discussed before; but, has anyone used Bag Balm (skin moisturizer-not for cows) instead of vasoline? We are in MA with 2 to 5 degrees expected tonight. I have six Golden Comets.
This is my first winter with six hens. I am worried about way too many things. First, my water is heated but outside the coop, Second, can I let them out on these freezing days to get to the water or will they get frostbite. Please send your comments.
Can I place some small beams in the rafters and layer it with straw for insulation? We do have one vent. This is my first year with chickens. I have six golden comets, six months old. We are in MA and are expecting -10 temperatures this Friday. Please respond with your comments.
I have six golden comets. These are my first chickens and live in MA. Five of chickens roost together on the high bar. The sixth chicken is alone on the low bar. Will she survive in the winters without other chickens next to her?
