We were trimming vents today since there so bad from a super wet winter and spring. I noticed this on our rooster and have never seen anything like it. Any thoughts? It’s like a part of the skin.
Our rooster has a very swollen leg with a pretty big Bumblefoot on the bottom. We watched a bunch of videos and tried to fix it tonight. It didn’t go well and we don’t know what to do. We tried the “soak in epsom and just pop it out” method but that only got the scab off. So we went to the “give...
and we can’t figure out what is going on. He’s been kind of funny all summer off and on. He’ll be fine and then suddenly he’ll seem just a little low in energy and we’ve noticed a little purple at the back of his comb. Then suddenly he’s fine again.
Now we caught him laying down which he ever...
Scenario that I really need opinions on because I’m so beyond frustrated-
Day 1- One of your chickens starts acting kind of....slow. Nothing big but something is off. Maybe the weather?
Day 2- Still slow and vanishes for part of the day but it’s been pouring all day so all the chickens have...
I have an Ameracauna hen who suddenly stared acting “off”. Hanging out in the coop and such. I noticed but didn’t see her enough to know something was wrong until I found her laying in the run with her wings kind of hanging. We brought her in and gave her some Tylan 60 and by morning she was...
We have a broody hen. Almost every night one of her eggs goes missing. Last night I left an egg sitting off by itself and it wasn’t touched but one of hers is. The first three that went missing were growing and due in a week. The one that went missing last night is a new egg under her. What...
Help me out here? We have this Ameracauna (true Ameracauna) from a breeder. We had four eggs hatch. Three are normal chickens but one has always been off. She drinks a TON of water so has always had really watery movements. She eats fine but just guzzles water. Reminds me of what a diabetic...
I’m not sure how to help this little guy. I think maybe he got pecked and it’s getting worse. Any fixing this or do we need to cull him? I know he’s hurting.
This “guy” is just under 16 weeks. True Ameraucauna from a breeder. Thoughts on gender? I’ve thought boy since he was little but I don’t see signs of male feathering.
Any guesses on gender with these critters? I'll keep trying to get better photos but they are crazy shy.
I have my guesses but I'd like to hear from those more experienced with this breed.
There's a black mottled, a blue mottled and a blue (there's a black too but no photos)
So my Wyandottes are almost 18 weeks. This one has me baffled. I don't see any noticeable male shaped feathers but the solid brown color overall looks JUST like her brothers. This is a late blooming cockeral, right?
The solid ones tail throws me for a loop and I would have sworn these two were boys but opinions on here a couple weeks ago were girls.
So how about now? 13.5 weeks.
So we have new babies this morning but this one (and one other underneath mama) looks like a blue mottled. I'm not sure how I would have gotten that color but it is....right?
I have one hen due tomorrow (hen #1) two hens do on the 7th of June (hen #2 and #3) and one due on the 10th or so. Last night, completely by accident, I found a new chick underneath hen #2 who isn't due for another 8-9 days. I convinced myself that somehow someone moved eggs around and one of...
So tonight when I went out to my Cochin coop I was surprised by a chick. Accidentally found her while searching my silkies nest. Her eggs are not due for another 9 days. My earliest clutch is due Saturday by my Mottled hen. Hmmm!! I'm assuming this just happened to be an early chick that just...
They're actually about 11.5 or so. Pullets or cockerals?
Also a silkie/cochin frizzle mix just a few days younger. Thoughts on that one as well?
#1- pictures 1-4
#2- 5-8
And the rest are horrible photos of the frizzle mix. He's a little spastic. Thanks for any help.
One of my two australorps. Other one is a very obvious male. This one was my hopeful female. I'm starting to lose hope. What do you think? She/He is about 9.5 weeks.
They free range so getting a standing shot never seems to work out. They're always blurry.
8 week old Australorp. I have two and one is obviously roo but I was hoping this one was a girl. These red wattles are making me wonder. Is this a boy?
