This is probably a stupid question. I'm thinking about getting ducks and want to know if they'll go up a ramp and into a chicken house. We have a storage building we converted into a chicken house and this is where I'm planning on keeping their feed and using an existing nipple water system as...
One of my friends has recently discovered my Red Golden Pheasants. She's in love with the male and has no desire to breed. I've heard of others keeping multiple males together. Is it ok to keep multiple males together as long as no hens are around? Would one male rather be by himself or would he...
I have a male (neutered) JRT that is about 6 years old. Other than some aggression issues with other male dogs, he's very well-behaved and was the star of his obedience class. However, if you let him out of his lot, he runs. Don't get me wrong, he can run all he wants. But, he gets his mind on...
I always keep the label from the bag I'm currently feeding in the container I store my feed in. I was feeding my RG's yesterday and something on the tag caught my attention, so I looked closer. Apparently, I've been feeding them flight developer with BMD. Stupid me for not double checking when...
What do I need to do when (if) my pheasant chicks hatch?
How do ya'll brood? I was thinking about putting them out in the pheasant house with a draft block and the heating lamp. I also have a guinea pig cage I can brood them in inside the house (did this when I got my chicken chicks), but I...
My Red Golden hen has always sneezed occasionally. But, yesterday, my DH said she sounded congested, and this afternoon, I noticed what appeared to be nasal discharge. She looks like she's got debris stuck on her beak. I'm thinking about going out there after dark tonight and getting her off the...
What are the parameters for incubating pheasant eggs. Temp, humidity, incubation time, etc.... Specifically Goldens.
I'd also appreciate any other tips ya'll might have!! Thanks!
ETA: Can you stagger them? For example, add one clutch this week, then wait a week and add a few more?
We finally got our pheasant pen to where we could put our pair of Red Goldens in it.
Eventually we'll split it into three sections for different groups. Let me know what ya'll think, if you see any major deficiencies.

I got these back in August from an acquaintance of mine. She said they were pure Goldens, but I'm not sure where she got them from. I finally got around to taking some pictures of them today. It's just two birds, but various pictures of each one.

Thanks!!
I've seen people mention in various different threads what they keep with their pheasants.
I'd like to see, all in one thread, what people are keeping with their pheasants.
Hi guys!!
I've noticed these poops over the past week or so from various different chickens in my flock. I've looked at the pictures on the commonly shared link to another forum and these seem normal, but I want some other opinions.
Sorry the pics aren't great, I took them with my cell phone...
Hi all,
I was doing my rounds last night and while I was collecting eggs, heard this high-pitched honk/squeak sound. I'd hear it maybe every 3-5 min. I wasn't able to narrow it down to one chicken til this morning when I let them out and was able to follow each one around.
Thanks in advance...
I had a friend give me her pair of Red Golden Pheasants and I have a few questions for ya'll experts.
Deworming - I know about worming for chickens. What about the pheasants? They were in with chickens and ducks.
Catching - OMG, please give me a tip on catching these guys. One scratched the...
Ok, I know everyone says not to keep pheasants with chickens; the chickens can pass disease to the pheasants. Someone is giving me some pheasants they've raised with chickens their entire life. Is it safe to assume, if they haven't gotten ill from chickens yet, they're not gonna? I know they'll...
So, lets say someone was to get hold of some feed that was excess from someone who has commercial houses. The feed would be intended for grow-out of breeding layers (ie, they're the hens used to make the terminal cross for meat birds).
Let's say this someone got this feed, but the people they...
DH and I are now to the point of creating our pop door.
What type of door do you prefer? Guillotine? Drawbridge? Top Hinge? Something else I haven't thought of?
What would you do differently to your door?
So, I'm at the grocery store the other day and I see that they have Honeycombs Cereal on sale. I thought to myself "I loved that stuff as a kid, and it's on sale, let's get some." So I did. Fast forward to yesterday morning at breakfast, and I'm settling down with my bowl of Honeycombs. I don't...
