    Are these RIR's?

The man at the feed store said he was pretty sure they were but wasn't sure of the sex...I'm guessing it's too early to tell the sex but I'd at least like to know that they are RIR's for sure.

So I have recently started my own flock...lol...it started as just wanting egg layers to feed my family, but now I'm chicken obsessed and love them all. My fiance is working on finishing up the coop which is 12 x 24 with a run that is 24 x 48 attached to it. Here's what I have: 11 - 9 week...

    Can we tell yet???

So many thanks to everyone here so far who has helped me determine the sex of my EE's....these two were questionable last week...are these better shots to tell if they are roo's? Their combs are much darker and larger than any of my other EE's and I'm thinking that could mean roo? Also, do you...

So, I was in my local feed store today picking up chick starter and my new best friend the owner asked me how all my chicks were doing...I told him they were great...we still had all 30 we started with, haven't lost any and they are all doing wonderful. Wellllll, he asked me if I would be...

"Jaunty" obsessed thanks to Laree...lol ***Pic heavy***

Okay, so now that Laree so graciously explained "jaunty" and "saddle" to me, I'm thinking more and more that the 11 EE "pullets" that I bought may not be all pullets...any thoughts on these 2? Someone mentioned earlier that they thought they might be roos when they saw them in another picture...

    Coop Size???

So we have 29 chickens and a guinea...lol...I've been looking at plans for coops and honestly have no idea what size we are gonna need. Space is not an issue, we have 10 acres, but I'm pretty sure that my chicken obsession will have me adding a few more to the flock at some point. Could someone...

Are these all EE's??? **Pic heavy***

Please excuse all the chicken newbie questions. I purchased these as "Aracauna's" and SLW's. I know that that the SLW's are correct...however I have since learned what an EE is and am assuming all of the ones that I was told were Aracauna's are EE's....however, the look SO different...is this a...

Very aggressive 8 week old EE...could she be a he?

So I have 11 EE's, 11 SLW, 3 Golden Sex Links, 2 Brit reds, a White Crested Black Polish and an EE/Silkie cross. I was told that all the EE's and all the SLW's were female when I purchased them, they are all relatively the same age...maybe 1 week difference at the most. However, one of the...

Gender??? **More pics added on pg. 3***

So a few of you told me when I got this chick that he/she was an Easter Egger/Silkie cross. The first photo was at just a few days old and the other photos are now...about 8 weeks old...any guesses as to the gender? I'm new to the chicken world so don't know what to look for. He/she was in a bin...

Where do you get your chicks?

So, I have purchased 25 chicks and a guinea from my local feed store. I can already tell I'm going to want more and we have 10 acres and my fiance is building me a huge coop so space isn't an issue. Just curious as to where everyone gets their chicks and if it's better to get them now while my...

These guys are in my barn...where I'm gonna put my coop :-(

So, in working in my barn today, cleaning it out and getting ready to build the coop and the outdoor access I heard a horrible hissing noise...this is what I found. I'm pretty sure they are just barn owls but I want to make sure they aren't a threat to my chickens...if they are...they are gonna...

So we got our first chicks this week...11 on Tuesday, 11 more on Wednesday and 4 more on Saturday...I check on them constantly...when can I relax a little and stop worrying about looking in there and seeing a dead chick? Did anyone else do this the first time or am I just OCD?...lol

Help me identify the breed of these babies please :-)

So I purchased some chicks from my local feed store...they said they were an "over-hatch" and they didn't order them so they aren't sure what the breed is. They were told the black ones were Silver Laced Wyandottes and the brown ones were Aracaunas. Can anyone confirm this for me? I don't...
