My first duck egg ever!!
My duck Jack laid her first egg yesterday! I found it last night when I went to put her away for the night. She's a Rouen and about 8.5 months old. The eggs I know are obviously not fertilized because I have no drakes, so no worrying about ducklings. I've never had chickens or ducks or... -

Tonight I had something very tragic happen.. There is a dog in my neighborhood that tends to get itself into trouble quite a bit. It JUMPED the fence of my duck pen - about 3.5 ft high or so and grabbed one of my two ducks and jumped back out. I caught the dog in the act but it was too late... -

Can you give ducks a bath w/ soap?
My ducks smell and I want to give them a bath, but could I use soap? I don't want it to disrupt their natural oils, but I want them to be clean! Is there a special kind of soap I can use? And I wouldn't use a lot of soap on them either, just a tiny bit! -

Multivitamins for ducks?
I have a lot of chick starter left and I'm not gonna waste it so I'm going to cut the protein level by adding oats. But that will also be cutting vitamins, and I don't want to skip out on those. Are there any multivitamins for ducks? Or can I just buy a bottle of multivitamins and crush them up... -

Weird neighbors..

Probably a stupid question, but...
Do ducks lay all year round, or only seasonally (breeding season)? I haven't really ever thought about this and my ducks aren't even close to the laying age yet... so I was just wondering. -
