19 Wk. Pullet Swallowed a Rubber Worm

I hope she does pass this thing. Once I relized it was gone I went to find the pack it came out of. There were to kinds of rubber worms in bags that could have fell out. One kind was a basic small rubber worm, but the other which is what I think she got was pretty big, about the size of a night...

19 Wk. Pullet Swallowed a Rubber Worm

I just noticed it hanging half way out of her beak. I went to grab her before she swallowed it but too late. I did manage to catch her 10 min later and completely gone. Should I just keep an eye on her? Should I take her to the vet? So far she acting normal and roosting for the night. Any...

? odd lumps on my chickens

Sounds like their crop. The lump would be on their right side into the chest area. I would continue to give them starter mash if you can. The pellets may be to big for them to swallow. Remove the food at night, and take another look in the morning before you reintroduce the food. The lump will...

    Do free rangers need grit?

I leave grit out all the time and mine free range. It's cheap enough, and simple to put some in a bowl and place in the coop. I've seen them take it plenty of times. They can have it if they want, or if would rather find their own that's ok too. I leave the choice up to them. And this way I...

Desperate! Why did no one tell me this about chickens?

Mabey you can try to slowly decrease the free range time. It would be less stressful for them and you. Cut out 10 to 15 min every other day or so. (Ex: Mon to Wed allow out at 2 and Thur to Sat allow out a 2:10. Sun to Tues allow out at 2:20 and so on. Even try a week in between time changes...
