Thank you but honestly we don't know how long our friend is going to be staying. It would probably just be best to find them a new permanent home. Thank you so much for the kind offer.
I thought that must have been you! I was wondering who else locally would have that many bresse for sale, let alone have bresse at all. I showed up near the end with my hubby just to see what was going on. I'm definitely going back in May, it was a fun little exchange. That big Dorking male was...
Hey, sorry, I've been away from my computer for most of the past couple days. Sadly it didn't make it, poor thing just couldn't lift it's body off the ground let alone walk or stand. An odd thing happened though, as I was disposing of the remains and the rest of the unhatched eggs I heard...
I could really use some advice. This little one had a really hard time coming out of the egg, and in fact I had to help it a bit by by helping peel the membrane away but not cutting it. It can't hold itself upright and the toes are curved, I don't know what to do about it. It's been out of the...
And the ones that hatched overnight bring the total up to 16 (one hatched as I was writing this post). Wow, thankfully a friend of mine is coming to get some tonight, I hope. I was wondering if anyone had a guess as to what they may be. The dark ones look like Maran crosses and they did come...
Looks like the total for Tuesdays chick hatch is 7! There are still more pipping and such but 7 have hatched today, what look like 3 Maran or maran crosses. Two OE's, 1 EE and 1 that came from a beige egg and is still wet so I have no clue what it is. Super excited to see what awaits us tomorrow...
Wow, I came home to three chicks out of their eggs and they are LOUD! For things so tiny they make tons of noise. One of the chicks is trying to play soccer with the others eggs. It's not dry yet but should I put it in the brooder still damp?
I'm so glad the pups are back! Gotta love nice people who will care for stray animals while their owners are found so the don't have to experience the pound.
Wow, I knew I'd have a bunch to catch up on by not reading through the posts this morning but this is nuts! Anyway, I'm freaking out and excited, I just put my eggs into lockdown. Honestly my candling knowledge and the light I use are not the best so I put all 28 in there and I can hear at least...
Sorry to be so upfront and skip niceties but I was woken up this morning by my normally quiet frizzled bantam chochin Zsa Zsa being unusually loud for a long period of time. It wasn't the standard "I laid an egg" sound that I'm used to in the morning that only lasts a minute or so. This is is...
Wow, this week of midterms has been kicking my butt and it took me quite a while to make my way through all the posts. Yesterday I tried to candle some of the eggs but couldn't quite tell what I was looking at, only my serama egg was clear so that got tossed. Today I looked up egg development...
I was wondering if I could get some advice. I was checking up on my Cream Legbar chicks and I noticed what looked like a snot bubble on my white girl's beak. What would cause this? I was thinking maybe it was sensitivity to the dust in their current bedding. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Explain to them what you just explained to us. It's too new still, in the same place even and you're not sure you can handle it. Maybe offer instead to take them to dinner so you can talk about the good times with your husbands and offer some support in a lower key setting that you can handle.
The Hovabator hubby got for me today as the back up for our wonky cabinet incubator was steady for four hours so I just put the 28 eggs in there. At this point I'll be happy if only one egg hatches but I have my fingers crossed for more. 21 days is gonna be a long wait.
