Hi. So they are coming close to point of lay now. So I thought I would post some updated pics. Most of them are starting to flush res in their faces and have yellow legs. Some have slight black streaks through their tail feathers.
So wdyt now? Red Sussex or RIR?
Are these chicken or duck eggs? or?
If they are chicken eggs by this point you should see movement and even their beak poked into the air sac area. Also chirping or a scratching sound. I hold the egg up to my ear and give it a light tap. With a good flashlight you should see movement. That...
*UPDATE*
They sent me 2 clip on guards for my incubator with a letter attached. I guess this is an issue that has been brought to their attention before me. I did not leave my eggs in the carriers for hatching, which most definitely would put chicks way too close to the fan opening. Anyhow here...
Not sure if they are available in the US. Maybe Greenfire sells their hatching eggs? My profile pic is a Chocolate English Orp.
oops and yes so gentle even with any chicks I have had. Can be hard to catch but they are lovey birds. Hens can go broody but wow can they ever hatch out a lot of eggs!
They aren't admitting to anything at this point to me. They are sending me two clip on fan guards. I suspect they will implement changes to this model and any others that have a similar fan, or include the clip on fan guards. I will no longer be recommending Brinsea incubators, definitely not...
My dog is mid sized, Australian Shepard. He has saved my flock many times, even jumping into the air to free a hen from the clutches of a hawk. He puts the ravens on the run all the time. He is outside 100% of the time and knows his job including keeping the girls out of my vegetable garden and...
yes it has a plastic covering over the actual fan. But my issue with this new design is that the fan is not blowing down, it's sucking up. If you hold a piece of tissue in front of your fan I think it will blow it away. I used to have the octagon but upgraded to this new Ovation style and am...
I'm just concerned that if I use screen it will also get sucked up in there and damage my fan/incubator.
I've not heard back from Brinsea today after sending them the pic.
The supplier here in Canada promptly replied with a forwarded message to Brinsea asking if this is an issue they are aware of. I also emailed Brinsea directly and got a fast reply. They said the guard must be missing. However there are no additional parts in the box, and it appears that there is...
I have sent an email to the supplier that I bought it from here in Canada, but maybe I should also bring it to the attention of Brinsea as well. I'll email them now.
I bought the new Ovation 28 advance incubator. It runs well but at hatch time I have now had 2 chicks who have had their wing sucked into the fan and blood sprayed everywhere. :( The chicks survived, but yikes!! I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen? I had an older Brinsea before...
Hoping for something deep and rich, like this image. I ordered some hatching eggs that are Wheaten Maran over Wheaten Ameraucana and I am hoping that will be a good match:
