    Absolutely Furious Revisited

I'm not sure on that with the hot wire either. Maybe I will have to do some thinking on the wire inside the yard.

    Absolutely Furious Revisited

Okay, I'm putting this out here right up front. If you can not play nice then do not post here. My last thread, "Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds" got locked down because of it. I posted that thread here because at the time I needed to have a sympathetic ear to listen to...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

To iheartnh, she only lasted a few hours. She was still drinking water on her own but there must have been more injuries than what met the eye. The one in the first picture died the following morning. I talked to my neighbor and she agreed to pay what I asked. She did tell me she would have...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

Okay. Here's some pictures of my birds. The 2 with the wounds are the ones that died later. The last picture is of my little rooster. He seems to be doing okay so I am hoping for the best with him. I haven't lost any more, thankfully. I am going over to talk to my neighbor tonight when she...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

Lost another Australorp tonight. This sucks. I think I'm going to wait another day or two to see if I lose any more. This is the list so far: Dead: 2 Australorp hens, 1 Rhode Island Red Hen, 1 EE Hen, and 1 Black Sex Link Hen; Injured: 1 Australorp Hen, 1 Black Japanese Bantam Rooster, and 1 Red...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

Well, lost my EE hen. That makes 4 dead. I will probably lose two more of my Australorps. All they want to do it hide in the corner and not move. Not that I can blame them but if they've already made up their mind to die, there's nothing I can do about it. I told my neighbor that I would...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

I talked to my neighbor tonight. She offered to pay for the dead birds but then proceeded to tell me how broke she was so I probably won't see anything from her. She also told me that she didn't know they were out but then turned right around and told me that she didn't know we had chickens or...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

Yes I am. I went right back in the house and reloaded before I went to assess the carnage because you never know with loose dogs, especially ones in a "pack". The animal control officer came out and I showed him where the dogs were, where they got in my coop and what they did to my chickens...

Absolutely furious - neighbor's dogs killed my birds

So at about 11:45 this morning my chickens start squawking and my boxer starts going nuts. Look out the window and the neighbor's dog are in my coop! I know who's dogs they are and I know where they live. I got a few shots off at them this morning and I think I hit one. The other dog I got a...

There must be some sort of sign....

Might be a Manx mix with some Siamese. Cute cat. Hope he is still doing well.

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

I also have three black sex links, could the eggs be from them?

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

They are various shades of brown so I don't think so.

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

Man, did I ever get a tongue lashing. My birds are not pets by any means of the word and this one did not appreciate me at all. This one came out of the bantam barrel too. So here's some pictures of my little blue hen. So far everyone had thought Old English...

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

Okay. I will go get some more pictures of the little barred one. Be right back!

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

Thanks guys. I am glad to hear I am freaking out for nothing. Is it possible that 1 rooster could sound like 2? I know my little black guy's crow but not the red Cochin. Also, would the Cochin be big enough to breed the larger hens? He's not much smaller than they are. If so, I have a neighbor...

Are these roosters? Lots of pictures.

I think I am being over run with roosters. Can you guys have a look at them and help me out? I didn't want any roosters to begin with and I know I have at least 3 because I have heard 3 very different crows in the mornings but I only know who 2 of them are. They are all about 4 to 4 1/2...

    Should I keep my rooster?

We live out in the country on an 8.5 acre lot so keeping him isn't a problem. I just want more eggs to eat than to hatch.

    Growing & harvesting fresh alfalfa

I just found this thread so I wanted to post too. I have an alfalfa field around my house that we own so we know it is not treated with chemicals. I just go out with my 2 year old daughter and we fill her red wagon up with it and feed it to our chickens and they love it. When I cut mine I cut...

    Should I keep my rooster?

I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep my rooster. He is a very small black Old English who is about 3 1/2 - 4 months old. How successful would he be trying to breed my large hens like my Rhode Island Reds or my Black Sex Links? I wouldn't mind if he and my blue Old English hen raised...

What did your chickens do today?

My chickens discovered sparrows. It was so funny watching them run up to the fence a to check them out. I think every single one of them had their necks stretched out as they would go.
