    THE ULTIMATE PEAFOWL THREAD

I can't seem to find answers to my questions. Too many threads or feeds with different answers. So if you all can help me, it would be nice. BTW, this is my Mom's account and I was told to research the birds before I got them. I have to work to raise my own money for pens and the birds and I...

    Rhode Island White Thread

Thanks to Google I found you all. After a few years of searching, we finally decided on a breed to raise and it is the rose comb rhode island white. Part of the decision came from an article in the magazine they publish for free for Tractor Supply. Too late for this year to get some thanks to...

    The Welsummer Thread!!!!

No live animal is allowed in the passenger area of shipping vehicles. Mine arrived in the back of a box truck that was just as cold as it was outside. It is animal cruelty. So no matter if it is cold or hot, these babies were not allowed to ride up front with the driver.

Coturnix Quail Basics- Information and Pictures Galore

I don't offer heat to my chickens, turkeys, ducks or pigeons but was wondering about these guys. Would something like quinoa or red clover be okay for them as a hiding spot/food source. Both plants can be used at the end of the season as tillage to spice up my garden spot. I am also planning on...

    How to keep Japanese Quail?

You can teach any birds to use a water bottle. I taught my pigeons. Just make sure it is a ball instead of nipple drip on the tube. Just takes time and patience. Do it when it is cool to prevent them from over heating from lack of water.

Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

So I went out and followed the advice that roosters have a swept back mullet as my daughter calls their hair style. I found at least three roosters, one we are keeping. I also determined that two of the three silkies out of this pen are roosters too. If anyone is interested in any of the...

This is our first year breeding these birds. Got me a roo from Old Orchard Farms in Virginia. So love these little birds. Ours follow us around when they see us out and so nosy. I have started a group on FB if anyone is interested - https://www.facebook.com/groups/273150102873818/

Showgirl thread- for posting pictures and discussing breed!

Thank you. I don't know why these birds are so confusing to me, silkies are no problem for me. These are all April to May hatchings so we should know something by now and no one is crowing. I wonder if the mature roo in the pen is dominant enough to keep the others from crowing. I noticed that...
