    Hen losing feathers around comb

Whoa!! I am having the EXACT same problem. My red and black sex links have bald spots around their combs and they're also a little over a year old. They seem to be doing just fine, they're as energetic as ever. Do you think it could be the heat? I'm in Virginia and its been around 85F to 95F.

    comb problem with rooster

My rooster Pudgy had a black spot on his comb that looked exactly like frostbite, but I'm not sure if it's cold enough for that to happen. Today I noticed it was looking a little sore so we brought him inside to look at it and took some pictures: (his comb is shiny because we put some neosporin...

    question about comb type

I was pretty sure she's the mother, but I guess she's not haha. The other chickens we have are dark cornish, red stars, a delaware, and black stars. I've been trying to learn a bit about chicken genetics, but its complicated!

    question about comb type

This is Pudgy, he's a cross between a silver spangled hamburg(male) and a barred rock(female). I've been trying to figure out his comb type for some time now, but i'm stumped! It doesn't look like any other comb i've seen before. I can post more pics at different angles if needed. Thanks!

rooster now has NO tail feathers... is he ok?

Our rooster, Pot Pie, was always pretty scruffy but he has recently lost every one of his tail feathers. He had about three until a dog went after our chickens and Pot Pie came to the rescue. No hens were lost, but Pot Pie now has a little bald patch on his rump. There's no blood or anything...

    squirting liquid poops???

My 3 month month old chicken Pudgy has started having liquid poops. It's crazy, like a water gun or something!! The poops are normal colored and Pudgy's totally healthy as far as we can see. Is this just a normal chicken thing, or do we need to get some supplements or medicine? We're not sure if...

chick peeping and moving but seems stuck

This is my first hatch and I put ten eggs in, candled them, turned them, etc. Six were fertile and growing well but on the 21st day... nothing. On the 22rd day, however, the eggs were wiggling and I could hear peeping. My first chick hatched pretty easy and I left her in the incubator to fluff...

cheek tufts on chickens- does it affect eyesight?

My chicken, Sharmila, seems to have trouble seeing as well as the other hens in my flock. We think she's an ameraucana or easter egger and she has tufts right below her eyes. Sharmila gets lost a lot and has to yell for the other chickens to come back when she can't find them. She doesn't seem...

    Different Chick Noises??

We've had chicks for a few days now and I've noticed that they make a lot of different noises! Loud peeping, chirriping noises (kinda like crickets), and excited sounding peeps. Does anyone have a guide or something for chick noises? I've looked and couldn't find anything! Our chicks are super...

    heavy chickens vs. regular chickens

I'm planning on getting the assorted heavy chicks from mcmurray, but i was wondering how to build a coop for heavy chickens. This is my first time owning chickens and I have no idea how much space I would need for the heavies compared to the regular ones. I've got family that knows all about...
