I have a bantam new Hampshire 'Molly' who is 5 years old. She's always seemed to have a slight allergy to hay but it seems to have gotten worse or should I be looking for some other issue? she is fully wormed but I change the coop with fresh straw at the weekend. After this weekend she has...
so we had a broody and stuck some eggs under - we've never done this before and 4 out of the 5 eggs had nothing in them. One was dark from the beginning so we were going to throw it away last Saturday. however when we arrived home from work there was a baby chick! totally surprised and never...
They are all moulting at the moment-I have just got a new bag of food so will take yr advice and use that instead! I have cider vinegar so will use that as well thanks
food is new - their crops are empty and when I fill them with liquid food they go down so it's not sour crop - most of their poop is normal - we are treating two of them for coccidicus - but the rest are fine
About a month ago one of my girls stopped laying eggs and eating - she walks around fine and her poop is fine. But we have been feeding her liquid food ever since. Since then another 4 have done the same. Again, they all appear fine and healthy and their poop is fine and solid. They have all...
Bracken (3yr old golden laced orpington bantam) I rescued her 2 years ago from a breeder from being a sunday lunch has stopped eating. I have checked all the usual things - her poop is fine - she doesn't seem to have sour crop and is walking around with her best friend 'Dottie' ok. She stopped...
Ok so all my 6 chickens are 'getting on a bit' with the eldest being 5 years old up to the youngest of around 3 years old. Over the last two weeks all but one has completely stopped laying! I had three which still layed quite regularly, every two days and they have all stopped - i'm baffled...
I have four 7 week old ducklings - I got them at 4 weeks old. One of them 'Mobey' has started to become aggressive. She not only nips the others but has started to bite the family and 'hold' onto the bite and not let go. I think this may be an act of becoming 'top duck' however, obviously we...
The duck house was closed up due to rats from next door - as next door are ploughing fields so we're getting a few in. There was a small hole in the bottom that baby rats cold get in - didn't even think a large rat could get into it. A cat definitely couldn't get in there - it was all shut up.
I live in Scotland UK, and recently new farm tenants next door yesterday burnt their field -there were a few rats in our garden yesterday because of this as I presume they were driven out of the field.
Problem is; as we were cleaning out the duck house we found 3 1/2 dead baby rats (one's body...
We collected 4 khaki campbell ducklings last week from a breeder which makes them 5 weeks old. One of them was a little larger(named her Nessie) than the others and remained on her own. The other three are smaller and play more together. The others cuddle up and put there beaks onto Nessie at...
Unfortunately the only vet around has said not to bother bringing my ducks to them as they don't know much about ducks-as it is they call me for advice about chickens
