Has anyone noticed that there is a new Tractor Supply being built on Rt300 in Vails Gate? I am so excited!! No more running all the way the Chester for supplies.
I did not move that heat pack. it WAS on top of the bedding as you can see it is covered with their droppings. Thankyou for the advice. I will never again order live chicks through the mail and will stick with hatching eggs.
They arrived this morning, only having been shipped out at 10pm last night from Detroit, where they sat since Friday morning. Never again. I will give them a proper burial.
Sadly, they still have not arrived and now, 5 days after they were shipped I feel so bad for the little feezers. Efowl has issued a refund. I will wait until the spring. Who knows why they never left Michigan. :(
I am sick to my stomach this morning. I ordered 6 chicks from Efowl that were shipped wednesday, 2 day priority mail. They did not arrive yesterday as scheduled and I just talked to my post office, they did not arrive on the morning truck today either. Last update was 8am yesterday in...
I didn't have such good luck with her eggs. 4 dominique eggs and 4 brabanter eggs.. only 2 brabanters hatched out. They both have green (willow) legs. The pullet has a gorgeous crest and and muff and the second just crowed this morning at age 6 weeks. He has no beard or muff and only a hint...
Out of 8 shipped eggs, 4 brabanter and 4 dominique; I have 2 live Brabanter chicks. The Dominique that was malpositioned, died in the egg. When I removed that, I checked the other 3 remaining, and tossed one after candling. The other two are back in the incubator but no sign of life. I will...
Just had a healthy Brabanter hatch from an egg that was slightly larger than the rest but there was something extra left inside the shell! It appears to have feathers, a beak, wings and an eye. Do you think this was twins and one quit early? anyone ever have something like this?
Here is...
2 pips today, one is making good progress. The other? Please tell me if this is what you call malposition? What percentage of chicks piping on the pointy end, make it out?
Catching up on this thread and totally fascinated with the banter on humidity levels, weighing eggs, meddling vs. benign neglect.
This is only my second hatching using the brinsea mini eco advance. It went so well the first time, I am barely thinking about it now. As for meddling? First...
Mine are due to hatch June 8th. Started with 8 eggs (4 brabanter, 4 dominique) The 4 dominique are still kicking, tossed one brabanter, one is kicking and the other 2 are on watch. I love hatching, don't you?
Day 6 and decided to candle this morning to see how the air sacs are. They are nicely stable. 3 of the 4 Brabanter eggs have veining, 4th is iffy. The shells of the Dominique eggs are too dark to see veining, but they are definitley NOT clear or cloudy. I will check again monday night. :D
