Ive just topped up the water trays, its zipping pretty quick, I think itll be here in a couple of hours . Just have to wait for the others to start now.
Thanks for the advice everyone.
the temps not been over, between 37.5- 37.7 C. Theyre silkie/cochin. They're from some chickens i hatched a few years ago that where supposed to be silkies but some of them arent. I havnt had any hatch this early befor now. Its doing fine, ive just left it and it one noisy chick. Its started...
ok, so i left the eggs overnight and went to go check the incubator this morning and the eggs pipped and the chicks still sheeping. Do you think now is the right time to stop turning it?
Ill just keep a watch on it, It was cheeping earlier. The chicks are for a friend so i dont really want to lose any of them. There was a couple of the others that had small lumps into the ari sack but this one looked to be in it more. Ill keep my fingers crossed
I've got 5 eggs in the incubator and they're due to hatch on the the 8th Feb so i havnt stopped turning them yet. However when i was candling them earlier one of the chicks looks like its broken into the air sack. I think its done it too early though so i was wondering if anyone had any...
well ive compared and i dont think it looks like that, and it can move its leg from there. It appears to be getting stronger and its trying to push itself up a bit more now and can move suprisingly fast when it wants too. Hopefully the swimming will help it some more.
Im not sure, it cant lift its weight because of its legs but it does have some strength there as when i pick it up it flaps them about ok . what would a slipped tendon look like?
It mainly keeps them bent under itself. Ive tried putting it in the bath to build up some muscle strength and it can move about ok but it cant get its body weight off the floor when its not in water.
Hi,
I had a chicken hatch a few ducks off last week and they all seemed fine however i checked on them today and one of them can't walk propperly.
Instead of walking its shuffling around on its hocks its not got splayed legs but crossing them under its body. Does anyone know of a way to splint...
I have 5 chickens and we feed them layers pellets but the eggs have a weak spot on them where the shell hasnt fully developed. The chickens have also stated eating the eggs and feathers. Is this a protein deficiency and if so what can i give them to improve it?
I had 6 ducklings in with my chickens and the chickens pecked at one of them and ended up making a big hole in its head and now its blind So we had to separate them.
Thanks amuck 10 i'll know what to look for next time. Ive got more eggs in th incubator already . And theres even some pictures that you asked for.
So here is the picture of the underside of its belly:
and a fairly recent one although they are much bigger now
and one of their bath time
well its been 2 weeks now and i just thought id let you know how the goose is doing. Its still strong and yesterday i came home to find it had pecked the remains of the lump off so everything appears normal now. Hopefully it wont cause any more problems
My gosling hatched this morning but it appeared to have its umbilical cord around its leg and it was bleeding.
Its not bleeding anymore but theres a lump where the cord has been and its got tiny lumps over it. Could this be its intestines? and if it is will it correct itself or will it cause any...
