It's a couple of days late, but here's the pictures of the iffy pullet. I'm pretty sure she's a pullet, but again, I'm definitely not an expert by any means.
I agree, but I am a little inexperienced (only a couple of years under my belt with chickens and only five weeks with the Barred Rocks, so I don't trust my opinion, lol), so we shall see. I think the iffy pullet is a pullet, but I can get a head shot of it and post it later this afternoon.
My daughter (7) wanted "Zebra Chickens" (she had RIR and SLW, but wanted to add Barred Rocks), so we just picked up some hatchery chicks from our feed store. They are five weeks old. I realize sometimes it's not as easy to sex the hatchery birds, but I just wanted to throw this one out there for...
I'm not sure if this helped @Chicky3 but I am definitely trying this with all of mine. We have 7 hens that we have raised from chicks and handled on a regular basis that still run. We also have 5 chicks in the brooder that we handled multiple times a day and although they seem better, they...
@Julie Bird, we definitely have a blast with our chicks. We bring them out from the brooder on warm days, so they get really rambunctious. It also makes them sleep good at night which helps the rest of the family sleep since the brooder is in the house, lol. On the second picture, we had just...
We have three Silver Laced Wyandottes. My seven year old daughter loves them. They aren't lap chickens for sure, but if she has a treat you can bet they'll run across the yard to come see her. They are dependable layers. I've seen a few people saying they are bullies, but we have a little flock...
We have 4 RIR hens that we have raised since chicks and will be a year old this month. Ours aren't lap chickens, but they love treats and will eat right out of your hand. They are dependable layers. And they are good natured to every chicken in our little flock. I will be keeping these girls for...
Thank you! I've been using this site for the past year so I figured I should make it official. My daughter likes to "rescue" the poor chicks from Chick Days that happen everywhere around Easter time. I'm sure we'll pick up a few throughout Spring.
We started raising chickens last year and have just fallen head over heels for it. I had always wanted to, but my husband was a little skeptical. Last year my seven year old daughter got on board and it is much harder for him to say no to her. :) Right now we have 4 RIR and 3 Wyandottes. My...
