Pet cockerels in search of loving home - Delaware County, PA

Hello! We decided to hatch our own chicks from fertilized eggs this spring, and as a result we have five boys who need to find a new home. To be clear, these boys are beloved pets! My daughter is very attached to them, and we would like to be able to visit them once in awhile! First is Lance...

    Funny feather?

She wears a diaper every day in the house, with changes every few hours, and the whole flock did just molt within the last few weeks. This feather was on her wing, I think a secondary, on the underside of her wing near what I can only think of as a chicken-armpit? It may have brushed against the...

    Funny feather?

Hello! I wasn't sure if this should go in this category or somewhere else... I have a year-old Columbian Wyandotte named Agnes; she's very standoffish, so I brought her into the house to keep our Salmon Faverolle (Sally) company. As was affixing her diaper this morning, I felt something hard...

Is this a healthy scab? Please help

I recommend cleaning it with either vetirycin or hydrogen peroxide and keeping her inside for a few days. When we took Frances to the vet she cut her some little foam donut pads to keep pressure off the wound and wrapped her up in ridiculous birdie foot mittens

    Is This Scaly Leg Mites?

She's irritated about being inside lol. We unwrapped her foot and checked it; there was just a bit of scabbing where we cut off the protrusions but otherwise no problems. We wrapped it back up with some rolled gauze and finished it off w the vetwrap again. I was able to get the gauze between her...

    Is This Scaly Leg Mites?

I've been meaning to grab ichthammol ointment and keep forgetting it exists whenever I go to the pharmacy lol Would that work for chickens?

    Is This Scaly Leg Mites?

Oh yeah! Our girl Frances had terrible bumblefoot this summer and the vet gave us the silver sulfadene and the vetwrap lol The protrusions were solid and fleshy; I used a surgical knife to cut them off (my cousin is a nurse so we have random medical supplies at home) and they were obv vascular...

    Is This Scaly Leg Mites?

Update: Hey everyone! We've got an appointment for Sally in the works, and I brought her in for a bit of home surgery to see what's up. I've got some pictures to show what we did. Upon further inspection, there was no visible sign of infection. It bled a whole bunch, so we applied some...

    Is This Scaly Leg Mites?

Hey! We just treated our girls for scaly leg mites, and our salmon faverolle, Sally, has something odd going on on the bottom of her foot. She's about eight months old, healthy and otherwise thriving, but we thought we should reach out and see if anyone knows what this is?

    Three out of Seven Laying??

There's a chance that's it! She was pulling out her feathers and shedding her down like crazy like she looks much better now but at the time she looked like a drowned rat for a little while lol She's looking much better now!

    Three out of Seven Laying??

Hi y'all, I haven't posted here in awhile but I have a question... Earlier this year my cousin and I added six new hens to our flock. Our previous flock had died out except for one, for various and vague reasons we couldn't identify... The girl we have left from the original group, Frances, is a...

    Pullets or Cockerels???

We had gotten six day-old chicks from Cackle hatchery, and so far they have been an absolute treasure. They're wonderful and happy chicks, about eight weeks old now... and the three pictured here, Polly a Plymouth Rock, Renee a Cherry Egger, and Susie a Speckled Sussex (if I remember the order I...

    Kaytee Chicken Feed?

I'm running low on prepared chicken feed for my flock. They're normally free range, so feed isn't the biggest issue during the summer, but it's getting cold and the snow is starting to fall, which means they need a steady supply of actual food. While I'm looking for something commercially...

Vegetarians ( and Vegans ) Thread!!!

Yeah, usually with toddlers and small children they act "picky" because it's a way for them to exert control over their environments. Like, my little one refuses sliced apples, but just Thursday she ate a whole Gala by herself! She's just being odd I'm sure, but I can't wait for her to grow out...

Vegetarians ( and Vegans ) Thread!!!

I do my best, like she used to love vegetables-- broccoli used to be her favorite food! Now, vegetables of all colors, shapes, and sizes are out the window. If she sees a green thing on her fork she won't touch it lol. She doesn't do beans of any variety or consistency, barely touches fruit (and...
