personally i am not an expert but i had 2 roos in my group of 36 and i didn't know until about 3 months. i figured it out when i walked by the coop and heard him crow, sure enough, big comb and saddle feathers.

i just fill up the feeder and let them eat as much as they want. they dont' seem fat to me. during the winter they should be eating more anyways. we do the same with all of our livestock

i made my own just like the pictures indicate. works great. during coldest months like late jan and early feb i have to put two lights in the tin to stop my water from freezing. works great for plastic water containers too.

my pullets are emptying out they nest boxes which have straw in them. should i keep them empty until its time to lay? what other materials should i use for the nest box?
