I tried to get them to eat cracked corn, nope. So just gave them more of their regular millet treat. So far they only eat, from me, their regular food and millet, occasionally chopped up grapes. No dried meal worms, no bread, no fruit, are they just super picky or is this normal?
We had a lot of rain in May, we thought it was a lot then Harvey came to visit, and my SIL said my chickens would need floaties because of the rain. So I bought some at the dollar store and took the picture, tried with a barred rock too but she was not having it.
I covered their "coop" with additional tarps, they screamed at me the whole time, and will leave it at that. They are protected by a huge tree, the side of the garage a metal roof, and tarps. I worry too much.
First off I live in in Texas so the 20s are cold, I don't know what we'd do if it got in the single digits. Anyway my 7 guineas are 7 months old, their coop is a chain link dog kennel, under a metal roof about 3 feet above a tarp stretched right over it so they can't fly out. One side touches...
On Wednesday one of my Guineas injured its toe and was bleeding profusely. We caught him, and realized it was a broken claw, and the bleeding was arterial. I applied pressure, blood stop powder, super glue, and cornstarch bleeding stopped so I bandaged the toe tightly and put him in a small...
We are in Texas, on the dirty side of Harvey. I went outside this morning in the pouring rain to check on 7, 3 month old guineas. They are in a dog run under a metal roof with a tarp over them too. They took one look at me in rain boots and a rain poncho and started screaming at me. Stinkers...
Mine were hatched in May too, and these are my first Guineas also. I heard all about the wild, untouchable guineas too. Mine are acting like yours hanging close to the house. Hope they mature into searching our entire property. This is them today, hanging out in a lawn chair, if they had cold...
Mine are 3 months, and have been free ranging in small groups for a while. I kept a few in and the others went to roam. Today was the first day everybody got to go out at once. This was the result...
First these are my first keets. I have raised many chickens. I have 16 keets hatched May 16. They are all of a uniform size except one, he/she is about half the size of the others. It eats, runs around, drinks, and is not being bullied by the rest. In fact I've seen it steal treats from the...
My keets, 16 of them, were hatched May 16. They have steadily outgrown their brooders, and are now in a kiddie pool surrounded by a exercise pen topped with netting, in our garage. I want to move them into an outside run, not with other birds. The daytime temps are over 85, and at night the...
My keets are 1 week and 2 days old. They are in a brooder with paper towels as bedding. At what age can I switch them to pine shaving? As as you would use with chicks.
This keet, the one with the broad dark stripe, came in a fancy assortment, no other information was given. Any input, these are our first guineas, would be appreciated.
