We are getting three Polish chicks and three bantam silkie chicks in June. I am hoping that if they are raised together from the get-go that we'll be able to keep them together in the same coop, even though they differ in size. Is this true? If we need two separate enclosures, we will have to...

Well I understand letting bygones be bygones, but you also don't want to teach these people that they can just walk all over you!
They destroyed your property, stole livestock, and killed and ate it - file a police report! And let them know that this is not acceptable to you...

I relocated the snake into my pig pen
I'm sorry for your loss, but I have to say that the above statement made me laugh out loud!
I'm using sand in my coop, and it is really easy to maintain and keep clean. Most of the poop falls on the poop boards, and the strays just get scooped up with a kitty litter scooper. I sprinkle DE on top of the sand every so often. I chose sand initially because I didn't like the idea of the...

You are right that my birds are not my neighbor's responsibility - but keeping HIS dogs secured sure is his responsibility! And if they get loose, what happens is totally his responsibility!
If my dogs got loose and damaged someone else's property, I would never expect them to...

Don't worry about getting your neighbor angry - worry that his dog that nips at your babies legs will next time jump up and bit him or her in the face. And protect yourself and your child accordingly when you are outside. AND God forbid, if it does nip/bite your child again, call the...
How old are chicks when they are pretty much independent from their mama, including sleeping at night? Mine are six and seven weeks old and are so big that I can't imagine they would still be sleeping under mama at night (if they had one).
