    Scared of the dark?!

It’s as predator proof as I know how to make it. There chain link & 1” chicken wire around the whole thing (chain link was there before I ever moved in, I think it used to be an old dog lot). I put chicken wire around the bottom too

    Scared of the dark?!

my coop & run are combined. I’ll have to take pics & share tomorrow when there’s light out. It’s a ‘very open air’ coop-run No power running to it, but I can put a solar light right outside the door that can act as a nightlight... that would probably work ok. I’ll let it charge during the day &...

    Scared of the dark?!

My lil chickies are 4 wks old tomorrow & have been spending as much time as possible in their coop/run area, most of the time it’s just been a few hours I usually put them back inside before work (10a-2pm, I work 2nd shift). They’ve been in the house the majority of the time up to this point...

Anyone successfully made a portable brooder-coop?

I was thinking of putting wheels on mine but not sure yet. If the design is big enough for a brooder but still lightweight enough to carry that would be good too

Anyone successfully made a portable brooder-coop?

I was thinking of making one soon for my next batch of babies in the spring. I’d like to get them on grass as soon as possible but also be able to keep them close by an electric outlet for their heater (or hot plate). Then when it’s time to introduce them to the older girls, I can let them...

    Weeds

I’m not an experienced keeper but I have found that they usually can’t resist big clumps of grass or whatever you can pull up while weeding garden or flower beds. Most of the time it’s not so much the vegetation they’re interested in but the dirt clump & whatever bugs are living in the dirt...

    'Update' on shed/coop project

Hey again, some of you may remember my previous post on wanting to convert my old shed into a coop. I'm sure you can find it in my profile if you're interested I had some time to go out there & check out the roof & found it's in worse shape than I thought. Several people suggested I just...

No, no birds waiting to go in. I don't plan on buying any chicks until at the very earliest next spring, possibly spring 2019. I'm more than willing to take my time & get it done right. I know I can do it, it's just how long will it take, as you said. As far as building/framing goes, I...

Pics of my shed that I want to convert

It's in my cart. I hope I'm not being a bother, but why start out with just those tools? I mean, once I start taking bad siding & shingles off, I'll need to replace with something & those something's will probably need to be cut. Just trying to get as educated as possible
